A sanctuary for some of the ocean’s gentlest giants. 🦈💙
The South Ari Atoll is one of the world’s most important whale shark habitats, where these magnificent creatures can be found year-round. Its warm, shallow waters provide an important environment for feeding, resting and growing, particularly for younger whale sharks.
Here at Radisson Blu Resort Maldives, we’re fortunate to have these gentle giants pass by just metres from our shores.
Through our partnership with Maldives Whale Shark Research , we’re proud to support vital research and conservation efforts. So far, their team has identified more than 900 individual whale sharks across the Maldives, helping us better understand these incredible animals and how we can protect them.
This International Whale Shark Day, let’s celebrate these gentle giants and remember that every encounter is an opportunity to admire them responsibly and help protect the waters they call home. 🌊
