Last month we were joined by Julia, Mark, Freddie and Archie from the UK. They participated in our family volunteering program in collaboration with Atoll Marine Conservation.
During their time with us, they got stuck in with all aspects of centre duties, including building the team an upcycled syphon out of materials around the centre. The Marine Centre team have since found this a great help when cleaning the turtle tanks 🐢
Afternoons were spent participating in uninhabited island beach cleans, fish ID surveys and many snorkels over Lhaviyani's reefs. They even had a day trip to Baa Atolls Hanifaru Bay, to see the annual Manta aggregation there!
Being keen divers, they also took the opportunity to complete a wall dive with Aqua Dive and Watersports.
Overall, it was a very eventful trip that we hope they enjoyed - we certainly enjoyed hosting them!! 🌊
