Swiss culinary mastery arrives at The Halcyon.

From 1–7 October 2026, Chef Pascal Steffen — Executive Chef and Co-Owner of roots_basel , holder of two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points — joins us for a Chef Residency built around his ingredient-driven philosophy.

Vegetables take the lead in Steffen’s kitchen, paired with thoughtfully sourced meat and seafood — a natural match for our own Traveller’s Garden and the daily catch that shapes dining across Thari, Yuzu and The Firepit. Together, our culinary team and Steffen will create dishes rooted in this place, some destined to stay long after his residency ends.

Ahead of his arrival, roots will debut a collaborative dish in Basel — a first taste before the full expression unfolds here, island-side.

We are pleased to be awarded a winner at the Travel + Leisure Asia Awards 2026, with The Halcyon Grand Estate honoured under Maldives’ Most Outrageous Villas.
 
The Halcyon Grand Estate was never built to draw attention. It was built to be inhabited slowly — generous in space, storied in spirit, a private world drawn from the deep south. It is where Halcyon Days unfold without hurry, and where a Halcyon Moment finds you when you least expect it.
 
Some places are discovered. A rare few are remembered into being.
 
When H.C.P. Bell charted the southern atolls of the Maldives in the early twentieth century, his careful survey of Huvadhoo set down the first lines of a story we would one day inherit. A century on, those same waters hold The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives, Autograph Collection.
 
For having debuted less than a year into its journey, this is something we hold quietly and gratefully. To our guests and partners, to every team member across the isles, and to the guests who chose to discover us early — thank you. This belongs to your confidence as much as our craft.
