Travel should be more than seeing new places. It needs to support the people and landscapes that make those places special.
When we welcome guests to Malawi, responsible travel isn’t an add-on. You guessed it, it’s part of how we function.
At Fisherman’s Rest Lodge you’re staying in a protected forest and contributing to conservation and reforestation.
Our in-country team is 100% Malawian, with most staff coming from nearby communities.
Meals are prepared using seasonal food sourced locally, often within 20–40km.
Local guides and our amazing staff team lead our trips, sharing knowledge of the land and communities they know best.
We walk to many villages and projects, reducing transport and helping guests experience daily life more closely.
And we make sure tourism benefits the local economy — from markets and tailors to craftspeople and farmers.
Travel should always leave something good behind.
Done well, tourism can support livelihoods, protect landscapes and create real connections between people.
That’s the kind of travel we believe in and the kind of experience we want to share with you.
