Throwback Thursday πŸ“ΈπŸ

As we celebrate 40 years of Robin Pope Safaris, we're sharing another unforgettable moment from the archives.

Many of you will remember the incredible Deb Tittle, who guided with RPS for many years and was one of the first female safari guides in the Luangwa Valley. She earned a reputation for taking everything in her stride, and this photo is proof.

Captured back in 2004, it shows Deb removing a python from the undercarriage of a vehicle. Most of us would have kept a very safe distance, but for Deb, it was simply another day at 'the office'.

A huge thank you to Simon Cousins for sharing this brilliant memory from the RPS archives.

Dinner under the stars...

There's something pretty special about ending the day like this.

Dinner overlooking the Luangwa River, hippos making their usual racket in the background...pure bliss

It's hard to think of a better place to sit down for a meal. πŸŒ…πŸ¦›

A relaxed morning with one of South Luangwa's most exciting predators. 🐾

Our guests staying at Luangwa Safari House came across this pack of wild dogs while out on a morning game drive. They were in no rush, giving everyone plenty of time to stop, watch and enjoy the sighting.
Not every wildlife encounter is action-packed. Sometimes the best moments are the quiet ones.

As we continue to celebrate 40 years of Robin Pope Safaris, we've been looking back at the memories that shaped our journey.

One of our favourites comes from Robert Keller (Robi), one of the very first guests to visit Tena Tena when it opened back in 1986.

He remembers bucket showers after long days in the bush, lunches cooked over an open fire, unforgettable walking safaris, and game drives with Robin Pope himself.

One memory still makes him smile. During a bush stop, Robin quietly drove around the bushes to check the area first. Just a few metres behind them, a pride of lions was fast asleep.

Forty years later, these memories remind us not only of where Tena Tena began, but how much has changed, how much has been protected, and why places like South Luangwa remain so important today.

Have you visited Tena Tena over the years? We'd love to hear your favourite memories in the comments. πŸ’š

There's something about a full moon in the bush. πŸŒ•

This evening, our guests at Kuthengo Camp are making the most of it with a nightcap under the stars, overlooking the Shire River as the sounds of the wild carry on around them.

Not a bad way to end the day.

On her commute to work today, our Operations Manager, Emily, found herself waiting for a lovely herd of elephants that also seemed to be on their way somewhere.

It's the kind of traffic jam we never mind getting stuck in. πŸ’š

Yesterday we took you back 20 years and asked you to guess which of our properties was hidden in the photo... πŸ‘€

The answer is... Pumulani Lodge! πŸŽ‰

Well done to everyone who guessed correctly! πŸ‘

It's incredible to look back and see just how far Pumulani has come. What was once a quiet hillside overlooking the crystal-clear waters of Lake Malawi has grown into the beautiful lodge so many guests know and love today. While much has changed over the past two decades, the breathtaking views, warm hospitality, and unforgettable experiences remain at the heart of every stay.

As we celebrate 40 years of Robin Pope Safaris, we're loving revisiting these special moments from our journey. Thank you for taking a trip down memory lane with usβ€”we can't wait to share more!

Throwback Thursday πŸ“Έ

As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we're continuing our walk down memory lane with another photo from the archives.

This was taken 20 years ago. Can you guess which one of our properties it is?

We'll give you a clue... it's in Malawi. πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ό

Share your guesses in the comments, and we'll reveal the answer tomorrow. πŸ‘€

You can always count on elephants to keep things interesting at Nsefu Camp. 🐘

This big bull wandered into the bar area, convinced he was doing a brilliant job of blending in. Safe to say... he wasn't fooling anyone.

Another unforgettable wildlife moment at Kuthengo Camp! 🦏✨

Our guests were fortunate to enjoy an incredible sighting of an endangered black rhino. Encounters like these are always special and serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of conservation.

Moments like this are what make a safari in Liwonde National Park so unforgettable. 🌿
