OVERVIEW
The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi, its core business is to produce, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as manage System Market Operation and Single Buyer licenses. ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions currently existing within the Corporation:

Purpose of the Job

To support the efficient functioning of the office through the provision of cleaning, messenger, hospitality, and general office support services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Cleaning, sanitize, and disinfect offices, meeting rooms, common areas, furniture, equipment, and other designated workplaces to maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment.
Photocopy, scan, collate, bind, and distribute documents, reports, and other official materials as required.
Collect, sort, process, and deliver incoming and outgoing mail, parcels, correspondence, and official messages within the organization.
Circulate office files, records, and documents to relevant offices and departments, ensuring timely delivery and retrieval.
Providing catering support during meetings, workshops, seminars, and other official functions, including setting up venues and serving refreshments.
Load, offload, and arrange office supplies, furniture, equipment, and other materials as directed.
Wash and properly store utensils, kitchenware, and related items, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
Open and close offices, meeting rooms, and designated facilities according to established procedures and security requirements.
Receive, welcome, and direct visitors, clients, and stakeholders to the appropriate offices or officers in a courteous and professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
At least one (1) year of relevant experience in office support, cleaning, messenger or related duties.

Job Summary

DUTIES

Preparing, cooking, garnishing, and pass-service meals (including breakfast grilling and buffets) for the restaurant, banqueting, and other food outlets.
Preparing Ă  la carte and set menu dishes of medium complexity and variation.
Preparing basic sauces, soups, and vegetables and cook dishes by grilling, frying, roasting, boiling, baking, special recipes, etc.
Ensuring that all food is of excellent quality and served promptly.
Preparing various delicious desserts, pastries, and sweet goods. Creating new and enticing recipes, decorating pastries to ensure beautiful presentation, and maintaining the quality of ingredients and equipment.
Planning menus while keeping in mind the budget and availability
Preparing a wide variety of items such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes
Creating new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers
Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings, etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
Monitoring stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and making appropriate orders within budget
Checking quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
Guiding and motivating Pastry Assistants and Bakers to work efficiently
Identifying staffing needs and helping in recruitment and training


REQUIREMENTS

Diploma in Hotel and Tourism Management, Food Production or Culinary Arts
Must possess an MSCE
Fully literate and able to read and interpret recipes, standards, an, procedures, basic stock sheets, and sectional reports
Fluent in speaking English to communicate with guests and Management.
Must be able to maintain physical stamina to supervise areas of responsibility personally.
Able to consistently apply the skills and knowledge requirements of the job.
Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, baker, or relevant role
Great attention to detail and creativity
Organizing and leadership skills
Willingness to replenish professional knowledge
In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless, etc.)

The Foundation was established on 1 September 2011 and was officially registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act of Malawi on 3 July 2012. The organization is affiliated with the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations in Malawi (CONGOMA) and the NGO Board of Malawi. Timotheos Foundation is seeking to recruit competent, committed, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and God-fearing Malawian nationals to fill the positions detailed below;

Position: Assistant Accountant

Reporting to: Manager Finance and Administration

Location: Head Office, Blantyre

Status of Employment: 1 year contract and renewable

Overall responsibilities

The Assistant Accountant supports the accountant in processing and reconciling financial transactions, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with finance procedures.

Key roles and responsibilities

Administer petty cash and cash advances and liquidations.
Posting payments and receipts into QuickBooks.
Support preparation of bank and petty cash reconciliations.
Prepare bank payment vouchers and ensure proper approvals.
Prepare and initiate electronic payments via FDH One Click.
Assist in preparing and processing journal entries.
Support payroll adjustments for taxes and pensions, loan recovery and Mudi Sacco deductions.
Organize payslips and disburse to the employees.
Prepare school summaries from Mpamba account and send them to Accounts Assistant
Reconcile income from school fees, farm operations, and other sources.
Assist in quarterly financial report preparation.
Assist in providing support for external audit processes by providing required records.
Assist in disbursement of cash when required.
Ensure proper filing of vouchers and supporting documents.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Accountant or Manager Finance and Administration.
