Fishing has always been at the heart of Boca de Tomatlan.

Marina Day is a beautiful reminder of the village's connection to the sea, where local families celebrate their traditions, decorate boats, and honor the community that has grown around the bay for generations. It's moments like these that make Boca feel so much more than a vacation destination.

One of the things we love most about Boca De Tomatlan isn't just the scenery - it's the people.

We're excited to see improvements being made to the local elementary school, creating a better learning environment for the children growing up in our village.

When you visit Boca, you're not just visiting a destination-you're supporting a real community.❤️

🍃 Ever wondered why Boca feels cooler than Puerto Vallarta?
Nestled where the Rio Horcones meets the Bay of Banderas, Boca enjoys its own natural microclimate.

Fresh river air, afternoon sea breezes, and the surrounding tropical hills create a naturally cooler, more relaxing atmosphere that guests notice the moment they arrive. It's one of those little things that makes Villa La Sirena feel different.

As the rainy season approaches and Boca
settles into its quieter rhythm, Stephanie's Restaurant
& Bar has officially closed for the season.

Her final evening on April 16 was a surprise - 17
unexpected guests arrived to enjoy one last meal by
the Rio Horcones before the summer break. It was a
fitting reminder of what makes Boca de Tomatlan so
special: warm hospitality, fresh seafood, familiar faces,
and moments that can't be planned.

Over the past season, Stephanie has built something
truly unique, earning 5-star reviews and creating a
gathering place where travelers and locals come
together to experience authentic Mexico.

While the doors may be closed for now, exciting
upgrades are already being planned for the summer,
with a reopening scheduled for November.

This is Boca life.

Not rushed. Not crowded. Just a small fishing village
where seasons matter, people know your name, and
simple moments become lasting memories.

We'll be sharing updates from Boca throughout the
summer and can't wait to welcome everyone back for
another unforgettable season.

What if your family beach day didn't involve crowded resorts and rows of lounge chairs?

One of Boca de Tomatlan's best-kept secrets is the ability to hire a local Panga to whisk you away to a secluded beach along the South Shore. Pack a cooler, bring your favorite snacks, and spend the day swimming, relaxing, and making memories in your own little slice of paradise.

It's the kind of authentic Mexico experience that families remember long after the vacation ends.

Stay at Villa La Sirena and discover Boca the real way.

Boca kids making the most of nature’s playground

The younger soccer players in Boca de Tomatlan have been taking advantage of the Rio Horcones’ changing river exit into the Bay, creating their own little soccer pitch by the beach.

In a village surrounded by mountains and tropical forest, flat land is rare - so moments like this become something special for the local families and kids.

This is part of what makes Boca feel different from the typical resort destination near Puerto Vallarta. Real community. Real village life. Real Mexico. 🇲🇽

Families staying at Villa La Sirena often get to experience these simple everyday moments that make Boca unforgettable.

This is how dinner is caught in Boca…

No fancy gear. No big boats. Just skill, patience, and the ocean.
Here in Boca de Tomatlán, locals still fish the traditional way — using a simple handline with a YoYo reel. Sardines for bait, a steady cast, and a bit of luck.

These guys were out on the main beach, trying their hand at bringing in dinner the old-school way. It’s a common sight here and a reminder that life in Boca moves differently.

You’ll also spot small Pangas just offshore, where fishermen head out for bottom fishing to feed their families or supply local restaurants. It’s simple. It’s real. And it’s something you don’t see in most places around Puerto Vallarta.

If you’re visiting Puerto Vallarta, take the short trip south and experience Boca for yourself.

Not every fishing trip ends with a catch… but this one? 🔥

The Patchett brothers headed out at 5 AM from Boca de Tomatlán, chasing big fish beyond the Bay of Banderas — the kind of experience most Puerto Vallarta travelers never see.

Their dad set it up through local Panga captains, and what followed was pure adrenaline…
A suspected Tuna hit.
A massive Dorado was lost just before the gaff.
And a full-on battle with a Black Marlin that finally snapped the line.

No fish in the boat… but a story they’ll never forget.

This is Boca life - raw, real, and just minutes from the resorts. And it’s exactly what staying at Villa La Sirena is all about.

Skip the resort routine. Come experience the real side of Mexico.
