This is how dinner is caught in Boca…

Here in Boca de Tomatlán, locals still fish the traditional way — using a simple handline with a YoYo reel. Sardines for bait, a steady cast, and a bit of luck.

These guys were out on the main beach, trying their hand at bringing in dinner the old-school way. It’s a common sight here and a reminder that life in Boca moves differently.

The Patchett brothers headed out at 5 AM from Boca de Tomatlán, chasing big fish beyond the Bay of Banderas — the kind of experience most Puerto Vallarta travelers never see.

Their dad set it up through local Panga captains, and what followed was pure adrenaline…
A suspected Tuna hit.
A massive Dorado was lost just before the gaff.

La Clavellina has reopened after renovations and is back serving breakfast and lunch in Los Veranos.
Open 7:30 am – 4 pm (closed Tuesdays), it’s an easy stop before ziplining or visiting the Botanical Gardens.

This is what a two-hour fight with the ocean looks like.

Captain David of Stephanie’s Tours, pictured with a 66-kilo (146-pound) Tuna landed near Corbetena. It took the entire crew two hours to bring it aboard, and later, it fed several families back in Boca. Fishing here isn’t just sport. It’s tradition.

🎣 Two hours. One monster Tuna. Zero regrets.
On November 25th, four Boca fishermen left the pier at sunrise, chasing Marlin or Tuna near Corbetena. After one snapped line and plenty of patience, the ocean finally rewarded them - a 146-pound Yellowfin Tuna after a full two-hour battle.
This is peak season fishing in Boca de Tomatlán. Raw. Real. Earned.
