We are in Spain right now but dreaming of Mexico. But Joaquin's sister, Eva is in charge of our house in Cuernavaca and receiving guests for us. As every year we will be back in Cuernavaca for the winter. Some of the best weather in the world is in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Year 'round. About 20 minutes by car from our Casa del Angel is Sumiya, the Japanese palace that the Woolworth Heiress, Barbara Hutton imported from Japan, stone by stone, and had 500 Japanese workmen live on site for 5 years to re-create the beautiful estate. In the 50's she hired an architect to find a location for a new home. He travelled all over the world and reported back to her that the best weather in the world was in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. Sumiya is now an El Camino Real hotel and open to the public. Go for lunch so you can see the gardens. Cuernavaca is called the Land of Eternal Spring. It is at an elevation of about 5,000 feet (about 1,350 meters). It is where the pine forests meet the banana plantations. Warm sunny days. Not much humidity. and cool , sometimes rainy nights.
