🌕 This May 31st - Honoring the Night Sky: The Upcoming Blue Moon on Isla Mujeres
Our island community will be treated to a spectacular and rare celestial event: a Blue Moon. As the second full moon to illuminate the sky this month, it offers a beautiful opportunity for reflection, renewal, and connection.
For all of us that love Isla Mujeres, the full moon holds a meaning that stretches back for centuries. Long before it became a tropical getaway, our island was a sacred site dedicated to Ixchel, the Maya Goddess of the Moon, Fertility, and Medicine. Maya women would make a historic pilgrimage by canoe to her sanctuaries here to seek her blessings. The moon’s cycles were deeply revered, representing the natural rhythm of life, transformation, and the tides.
Out of respect for this rich heritage, local wellness practitioners continue to honor the island's unique energy.
Our absolute favorite spot to take in this magic is right here from our hotel rooftop. It is a space designed for whatever pace you need. You can find a cozy spot on a comfy lounge sunbed, swing in a hammock surrounded by lush greenery, flowers, and palm trees, or cool off in our rooftop dip pool.
It is also a wonderful meeting place where travelers from all over the world gather by the communal kitchen to share stories and become friends.
If you sit at the bar stools overlooking the street, you get a front-row seat to the heartbeat of the local community. You can watch the daily hustle of the Mercado, see the local loncheritas, and even watch the children and teachers from the elementary school singing and dancing in the courtyard below. It is a truly magical perspective of island life.
