Thank you to Kevin Graham for this amazing review.
We discovered our little piece of paradise on the island of paradise itself - Isla Mujeres.
Tucked away there is Casa Flamboyan, a truly extraordinary property hosted by Richard and Harriet. We first stumbled upon it back in 2010, and from the very first moment we arrived, we knew we had found something special. Over the years we have stayed in many beautiful places, but Casa Flamboyan is different. It doesn’t simply feel like a home in paradise — it feels like a piece of art sitting quietly beside the sea.
Everything about the place feels thoughtful, calm, and beautiful. Walk one way and within minutes you are at the beach and restaurants, the Caribbean breeze in your face and the turquoise water calling your name. Walk the other way and you step straight into the colonia, where the real rhythm of Isla Mujeres lives, small restaurants, friendly faces, and the authentic feeling of Mexico that travelers hope to find.
What amazes us most is that Casa Flamboyan still looks as stunning and fresh as the day we first saw it. That doesn’t happen by accident. Richard and Harriet care deeply about their home and about the people who stay there. They quietly work behind the scenes making sure everything is perfect, always welcoming guests as if they were old friends returning home.
And in many ways, that’s exactly what it has become for us.
Over the years Richard and Harriet have grown a little older, and so have we - as well as our friendship. What started as a simple one-week visit slowly turned into a month at a time. Each visit pulls us back again, and each stay somehow feels even more special than the last.
Casa Flamboyan sits in what we believe is the most perfect location on the island. It feels like the kind of place that exists somewhere between the ocean and heaven. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and quietly magical.
When you step out of the front door each morning, it almost doesn’t matter which direction you go. The warm ocean breeze greets you immediately, the sunshine wraps around you, and life instantly slows down. Maybe you walk to the beach, maybe you wander into town for breakfast, or maybe you simply pick up a few groceries and head back to your little kitchen overlooking paradise.
Every path feels like the right one.
We have been lucky enough to enjoy Casa Flamboyan for many years now, and every time we leave we already know one thing for certain, we will be back.
Because some places you visit once,
and some places quietly become part of your life.
Casa Flamboyan is one of those places - special thank you to Lupi for always making our little piece of heaven perfect each visit!
