A little piece of Isla Mujeres history. 💛

I came across this April 1975 issue of National Geographic featuring the famous “sleeping sharks” of Isla Mujeres. Divers discovered that sharks could actually lie almost motionless inside underwater caves around the island, something that completely challenged what people believed about sharks at the time.

Almost 50 years later, Isla still has that same sense of adventure and mystery beneath the water. 🌊🦈

Have you ever scuba dived around Isla Mujeres? And when did you first come to Isla? I’d love to hear everyone’s stories.

Two mariachis, one beautiful beach, and the sun setting over Isla Mujeres. This is how you close out a day in Mexico.

The music carried across the beach as the sky changed colors, creating one of those perfectly unexpected island moments. No stage, no production, just mariachi music by the sea and another unforgettable sunset.

If Isla Mujeres is on your travel list, this is the kind of experience you come here for. Beautiful beaches, authentic Mexican culture, warm Caribbean evenings, and moments you simply cannot plan.

Come for the turquoise water and stay for evenings like this.

There are places you visit…
and then there are places that stay with you.

Isla Mujeres is sunrise over the Caribbean, sunsets that stop you in your tracks, salty air, bare feet, winding island roads, seashells moving quietly across the earth, and days that somehow feel slower here.

It’s the colors.
The ocean.
The people.
The energy.
The little moments you never planned for.

And tucked into the beauty of it all is Casa Saasil, our little piece of this island we love so much.

Come for the house.
Fall in love with the island.
Leave already dreaming about when you’ll return.

Meet one of Casa Saasil’s permanent residents. 🦎

We actually have two iguanas that call the property home, and this is one of them. You’ll usually find him tucked away among the rocks, basking in the Caribbean sun or quietly watching the world go by. They keep their distance, but every now and then they’ll make a surprise appearance and remind you that you’re sharing this little piece of paradise with the island’s incredible wildlife.

It’s just one of the many small moments that makes staying at Casa Saasil feel so connected to nature.

These cliffs have witnessed centuries of sunrises.

Perched above the turquoise Caribbean, these ancient ruins have stood watch for hundreds of years, preserving the spirit of a civilization that believed this was sacred ground.

Stand here for just a moment…
and you’ll understand why.

There is something magical about a summer afternoon at Casa Saasil.

The gentle sway of a hammock beneath the palms. The warm Caribbean breeze carrying the scent of the sea. Sunlight dancing through the tropical gardens while the world slows to a pace you forgot existed.

Here, there are no schedules to keep or places to rush off to. Just the sound of the waves, a good book, an afternoon nap, and the simple luxury of doing absolutely nothing.

Sometimes the most memorable moments aren’t the adventures. They’re the quiet ones. The ones where you finally exhale, close your eyes, and let Isla Mujeres remind you what peace feels like.

This is summer at Casa Saasil.

Every season has its beauty, but there’s something magical about July at Casa Saasil.

The gardens are vibrant.
The pool is warm.
The Caribbean is calling.
And every corner of the property invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the moment.

Whether you’re celebrating with family or escaping for a quiet getaway, Casa Saasil is more than a place to stay. It’s a place you’ll never want to leave. 🌴✨

Some of the best vacation memories aren’t made on an excursion.

They’re made around the kitchen island, gathered on the sofa after a day in the sun, laughing over dinner, planning tomorrow’s adventure, or enjoying one more glass of wine before bed.

At Casa Saasil, the kitchen and living room were thoughtfully designed to be open, welcoming, and comfortable, making it easy for everyone to feel connected while still embracing the relaxed pace of island life.

This is where your vacation truly feels like home.

Not every hidden gem is hidden. You just have to venture a little farther. ☕🌿

One of my favorite morning stops on Isla Mujeres is Lacandona Coffee Bus at the south end of the island.

Great coffee. Fresh breads. Friendly faces. A peaceful setting where you can slow down, take a breath, and enjoy the quieter side of Isla.

If you’re staying at Casa Saasil, it’s the perfect stop before a walk through Punta Sur or a day exploring the island.

Save this one for your next trip to Isla Mujeres. You’ll thank me later. 🤍
