When Tom and I realized we couldn't live on Isla Mujeres full-time anymore, there was only one question that mattered:

Who could care for our guests the way we would?

The answer was Rogelio...and his wonderful wife, Soila.

Over the past two and a half years they've become so much more than caretakers of Castillito del Caribe.

They've become trusted friends.

Whether they're greeting arriving guests, sharing their favorite island recommendations, arranging golf carts, or staying late into the evening after an unexpected power outage to protect our home, they treat every guest—and our villa—as if it were their own.

Nothing makes us happier than reading reviews where guests mention Rogelio by name.

That's how we know we've kept the promise we made ourselves:

Some guest reviews make me smile. Others stop me in my tracks.

A recent guest left this comment after staying at Castillito del Caribe:

💙 "The location was so perfect for my soul."

What I loved most is that she didn't spend much time talking about the property itself. Instead, she talked about walking the Malecon, discovering favorite restaurants, listening to the waves, enjoying the pool, finding hidden gems around Isla, and simply soaking in the magic of island life.

After nearly 10 years of hosting guests on Isla Mujeres, we've learned that the memories people cherish most are rarely about a place to sleep.

They're about how a place made them feel.

Summer is one of my favorite times on Isla. The pace slows down, whale shark season is underway, the sunsets are spectacular, and after the last ferry leaves, the island settles into the relaxed Caribbean rhythm that keeps so many of us coming back.

If you've been thinking about a return trip to Isla, perhaps this is your sign. 🌴☀️
