✨ Guest Love for Villas Chukum ✨
We’re so grateful to share this heartfelt review from recent guests who experienced the comfort, calm, and care that make Villas Chukum special. 💛
“Hosts, apartment and location were all exceptional!
+ Our hosts were outstanding in every way you can imagine - helpful and attentive from the get go on what's app answering every possible question we had! They even picked us up from the ferry and dropped us off. The apartment was spacious, very clean, the king bed luxuriously comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, the bathroom fully functional with hot running water and clean towels/toiletries well stocked. The facilities were so amazing that we spent an entire day lounging in and around the salt water pool and left the busy island behind! The roof top was our favourite spot with a bird's eye view of the island where we enjoyed practising yoga, listening to music and starting our days deeply relaxed. Important note: if you want to have access to the island and get a good nights rest - look no further. This is the place to be -- quiet and peaceful at night (compared to many other parts of the island that are non stop noisy) with easy access to both the north and south parts of the island. The buses run very frequently and only cost $1 per trip. You just go out on the main street and wave your hand they will stop and pick you up. The island is only 5 miles so you can walk anywhere. This spot was absolutely perfect for us. Lots of cool shops, food, restaurants near by at night. You literally have everything you need nearby plus a solid peaceful night of sleep and your own luxurious apartment.
- We were disappointed with Isla Mujeres as a travel destination -- very run over and a money grab at every corner. DO NOT RENT THE GOLF CARTS (total racket) or take the taxis because you are enforcing a corrupt system with your dollars. The overwhelming feeling on this island is that there is not enough collective care for the land and the people. Our hosts seem to be an exceptional example of caring folks who are continuously raising funds to support locals in desperate need of support etc. and that for us was the redeeming grace in the whole experience. It's clearly going to take many more kind souls to bring balance to a very corrupt extracting way of life. And if you have decided to come to Isla Mujeres and want to feel good about where you are putting your hard earned dollars, these hosts are most certainly it (and I'm sure there are other kind hosts/business owners on the island). We were only there for one week and noticed many of the our guests were returning guests staying for several weeks at a time. There are 4 apartments in total. As travellers our collective $$$ can transform the lives of so many. Let's chose wisely. The buses run very frequently and cost $1. The island is narrow and only 5 miles long - you can safely walk everywhere.”
