The long promised second video from my group dive trip last April.

Come along for some great diving at World famous Roca Partida a remote seamount 250 miles offshore of Los Cabos Mexico. This is the tip of an 11000 ft tall volcanic mountain. Giant oceanic Mantas, playful dolphins and sleeping sharks made for some magical encounters. Chuck Whitt Gina Crane and Louise Roessler make cameo appearances as we were staying on The Valentina run by Fun Baja . They do a great job.

That's some great news. Cant wait to see how this beautiful underwater area evolves. Snorkeling and diving adventures will improve as fish mature in a new refuge. Plenty of ocean out there for all, we just need protect some areas.

Happy Mothers Day from a cute baby Moray eel. Actually its probably a Juvenile since is has transitioned from worm look to actually looking like a miniature version of the adult which can grow up to 5 feet and can live 20-30 yrs. They are born from eggs and this one was about size of my little fingers. I decided to try my flood light shining slightly above him to avoid scaring him back into the reef. Notice how light at depth reveals beautiful colors? This was taken at The Boiler dive site in the west side of San Benedicto island on my recent trip. I am slowly recovering from the fall that day so starting to do some video editing. Much more to follow.

Lots goes on to get us divers in the water safely so thought I would show a little clip of how a pro team does it. The expert tender driver positions the boat along side the liveaboard, often in some very rough open seas. The dive guide boards first and then they hold ropes that keep the zodiac close enough for geared up divers to step aboard and sit. They also place gear directly on the boat for any with mobility challenges who will be helped into their gear on-site. They pass out fins and cameras and then find the right place for the dive to begin. You can see this driver signaling he is already seeing Mantas. Once in the right spot the guide does a countdown 3-2-1 and the group backrolls all together and the dive begins. The Valentina team does a fantastic job. Finally here is a quick update on the epic trip on The Valentina to The Revillagigedo Islands. On our first dive day we dropped in at Manta Rock at El Canon site on San Benedicto and were immediately greeted by a Manta and some dolphin friends. They came quite close and gave me a good side eye. They were so playful. This set the tone for many amazing dives with Mantas, dolphins, sharks of many kinds, fish, eels, octopus and so much more. Unfortunately the second morning after dive #5, I took a pretty bad fall amd seriously injured myself which impacted how much I was able to dive. Once we returned from the trip Xrays revealed 2 broken ribs plus 3 fractured and a badly sprained right wrist. When you are 300 miles from shore you can only guess at the extent of your injuries. That explained why breathing was so painful so you can imagine how difficult it was climbing in and out of zodiacs which we used to dive. The staff and my group was so amazing, helping me in and out of gear and the boats. I made only 14 dives of the 22 offered. Have been resting a lot since and trying to recover. Will slowly share more about this trip in future posts. Wait until you see the whale sharks we encountered at the end of the trip. Lots of great stuff to come.
