A rich and storied past surrounds Casa Lucila Hotel Boutique, located within walking distance of Centro Historico. Its restoration is dedicated to the memory of a loving mother and father, Lucila Valdez de Valades and Fernando Valades Lejarza. The hotel was once a mansion for wealthy German immigrants, originally built in 1823. The mansion’s façade featured a healthy blend of Colonial and Neoclass
ical influences, a feature that remains a constant today. Since then, the building experienced several manifestations. Probably the most famous of identities was the oft-visited Jazz-Age restaurant and club called O’Brien’s Seafood Restaurant that was frequented by the likes of nearby fishing boat owner John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, and Ernest Hemingway just to name a few. In the late 1950's the property was abandoned and remained empty until early 2005 when a native of Mazatlan, Conchita Valades, decided to revive the property to its original glory. After two years of construction, Casa Lucila Hotel Boutique opened her doors on October 13, 2007. Casa Lucila Hotel Boutique is known for her sweeping Pacific Ocean views, fabulous sunsets, and her convenient location to Centro Historico.
