Hotel Boutique Finca Garullo is the first property in Veracruz to begin its Regenera Luxury certification process.

It all started in 2001, when an entrepreneurial couple transformed a 19th-century hacienda into a haven where nature, wellness, and authentic hospitality coexist in harmony. Every corner of the estate—its gardens, its architecture, its welcoming character—bears the mark of that original vision.

Today, more than two decades later, Finca Garullo is taking a step that no other hotel in Veracruz has taken before: opening its operations to a certification process that evaluates not only the experience it offers, but also the impact it generates. It is a decision that honors the mission with which the project was born—holistic well-being, harmony with the environment, and hospitality rooted in local traditions—and now translates it into a measurable commitment.

Finca Garullo isn’t waiting for the destination to change: it is setting the first precedent.

Lighthouse Reef, Belize

Suspended in the turquoise heart of the Caribbean, Lighthouse Reef is one of only three coral atolls fringing Belize’s Barrier Reef — and arguably the wildest. Its isolation, roughly 50 miles southeast of Belize City, has kept this ecosystem remarkably untouched, making it one of the most biodiverse marine environments in the region.

Stretching 35km long and 8km wide, the atoll cradles a shallow turquoise lagoon and shelters six coral cayes, including Half Moon Caye and Long Caye. At its center lies the Great Blue Hole — a nearly perfect circular sinkhole over 300 meters wide and 125 meters deep, declared by Jacques Cousteau in 1971 to be one of the finest diving sites on Earth.

Nearby, Half Moon Caye Natural Monument holds a quieter distinction: it’s Belize’s oldest wildlife sanctuary, home to the only viable breeding colony of red-footed bo***es in the western Caribbean, and a vital nesting ground for sea turtles.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, Lighthouse Reef remains a benchmark for what an intact marine ecosystem can look like when remoteness becomes its own form of protection.
