A typical day at Niku House:

7 am: wake up to the sun and the sound of the waves
8 am: a little morning walk on the beach
9 am: breakfast with a view
11 am: Massage by the pool
12 pm - 4 pm: swim, nap, drink, repeat
5 pm: shower & get ready
6 pm: dinner & drinks
7 pm: sunset & golden hour
Good night: relax and enjoy the stargazing at night

Mornings at Niku House look like this. We’re located right on Playa Plataforma, one of the best beaches for surfing in Puerto Escondido.

The beach is secluded and there’s usually not many people but if you’re looking to peoplewatch we suggest catching the morning (fit) surfers as they head out to catch the perfect wave.

How does one live without Uber?!

The best part about Niku House, in our opinion, is the location. It’s secluded and offers privacy like no other place, but it’s still close to town. You have MANY options:

1. We will connect you with trusted taxi drivers that we personally use.
2. You can hire a private driver for your entire stay.
3. Bring your own rental car, Niku house has private parking.
4. Rent scooters or ATVs (only if you’ve driven one before!)
5. Last option: Stay put at Niku House the entire time. We can bring you everything you need!

Meet Tano, the backbone of the Niku House family! If you’ve stayed with us, you’ve met him, and you probably love him as much as we do. Tano has been with us since the very beginning and was even in charge of the construction!

He takes care of everything property-related, and he’s also our own trusted security guard. It’s all thanks to him that our pool and garden look so lush and beautiful in your Instagram photos.

Be sure to tell him he looks good in this photo when you see him ;)

We loved hosting Mr. & Mrs. Neal’s wedding back in November!! Such a cool couple, and honestly, a perfect match for the Niku House aesthetic. These are the kinds of weddings we love to be part of: stunning, good music, laid-back, and great people.

February is one of the best months to visit Puerto Escondido. Air temperatures stay around 28–30°C / 82–86°F, it’s lush, the ocean is warm, and it’s peak whale season and the fishing is incredible along the Oaxacan coast too. While most of the world is freezing, life here stays very comfortable and very sunny.
