Someday, this photo might start a conversation exactly like that.
They'll remember getting on two Abbey del Sol bikes. 🚲
Riding through town together.
Feeling the Caribbean breeze.
Stopping when they reached one of the public beach entrances.
And probably having no idea that someone taking a simple photo would be capturing a memory they'd bring home with them. 🌴
That's one of our favorite things about travel.
You don't always know you're making a memory while you're making it.
Sometimes it just feels like a bike ride.
A walk to the beach.
An afternoon with someone you love.
Until years later, when you find the photo again...
and suddenly you're back in Puerto Morelos. 💙

🔧 When everything works perfectly during your vacation, there's usually someone behind the scenes making sure it does.
Today, we'd like you to meet one of those people. 💙
This is Ángel, part of our maintenance team at Abbey del Sol—and today is his birthday! 🎂🎉
Ángel comes from a Maya community in Yucatán and has been working with us as a Maintenance Assistant for the past two years.
His work isn't always something guests get to see.
In fact, when maintenance does its job well, you may never even realize there was something that needed attention. 🔨🌴
But that's exactly why people like Ángel are such an important part of every stay.
So today, the guy who usually works behind the scenes gets to be front and center. 📸

🌴🤝 You can hire a team. But you can't manufacture years of trust.

💧 What you're watching is our maintenance and groundskeeping staff repairing a leak in the pool at Abbey del Sol.

But there's something the timelapse doesn't show. 👀

Many of these guys have known each other for years. 🤝

Several come from different Maya communities in Yucatán 🇲🇽🌿, and that connection shows when they work.

🔨 One person starts.

👀 Another already knows what needs to happen next.

🤲 Someone needs help, and another pair of hands is there.

Maintenance and groundskeeping may have different responsibilities... 🌴🛠️

but on a project like this, those lines disappear.

🎯 **Everyone has the same goal: get the job done right.**

That's experience.
That's trust.
That's teamwork. 🤝💙

And we're lucky to have it at Abbey del Sol. 🌴☀️

Nine years ago, José was the one preparing the rooms. Today, he's the one leading the team. ❤️

José came to Abbey del Sol with experience working at some of the large resorts of the Riviera Maya.

He joined our housekeeping team.

He learned our homes.
He learned our standards.
And most importantly, he learned the little details our guests appreciate.

Over time, his experience and dedication took him from housekeeper to Housekeeping Supervisor.

Nine years later, you'll still find him doing things like this.

Today, we caught him at Casa La Aurora finishing a towel creation for our next guests. 🦢

Because becoming a supervisor didn't mean leaving the little details behind.

Sometimes leadership means still being willing to do the work you once started with.

Thank you for nine years, José. 💙

🇲🇽 September 16 isn't simply another holiday in Mexico. It's a reminder of where our story as a nation began.

On this day in 1810, the movement that would eventually lead to Mexico's independence began.

More than two centuries later, we celebrate that history with flags, music, food, traditions and one word you'll hear everywhere:

¡Viva México! 🇲🇽

But for us, Mexico isn't only a place on a map.

It's our home.

It's where our team comes together every morning.

It's the culture we grew up with.

It's the hospitality we get to share with people who visit us from around the world. ❤️

So today, from all of us at Abbey del Sol in Puerto Morelos...

☕ Of everything she could remember about , Jen mentioned something surprisingly simple: her morning coffee.

She stayed at Casa Sonoma #4 for a weekend getaway.

And when she later wrote about her stay, she didn't talk about a packed itinerary or a long list of things she did.

She remembered the bedroom.

The views to the east and west.

And especially those quiet mornings, drinking her coffee while listening to the birds. 🌿

It's funny how vacations work.

Sometimes we travel thousands of miles expecting the big moments to be the ones we'll remember.

And then we come home missing something as simple as...

🇲🇽 There's a big difference between visiting Mexico… and experiencing what it feels like to live here.

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming La Familia Keller to Abbey del Sol. 💙

Almost four years ago, they made Puerto Morelos their home.

Since then, they've been sharing something with their community in the U.S. that we understand very well:

Mexico isn't only beautiful beaches, cenotes and vacations.

It's the people you meet.

The food you discover.

The neighbors who learn your name.

The traditions you begin to understand.

And those little everyday moments that eventually make a place feel familiar. 🌴

That's why having the Keller family visit us felt special.

Because while many people in their community are still dreaming about experiencing life in Mexico…

they're showing them what that life can actually look like 🇲🇽❤️
