Ignacio Allende was born right here — in what was then called San Miguel el Grande. A Creole military officer who stood alongside Miguel Hidalgo and helped spark Mexico’s independence movement in 1810. Betrayed, captured, and executed in 1811. Honored forever in 1826, when his hometown was renamed San Miguel de Allende in his memory.

Every cobblestone street, every colonial wall, every church bell you hear — this is his city.
