Many people have heard about some things going on with a cartel "in Mexico".
Just like the USA is a large country with many states, so is Mexico.
The happenings in the state of Jalisco is roughly 1000 miles away from Puerto Penasco. In a totally different state. Not even a neighboring state.
See the 2 pictures attached below... you can see in the one of Mexico, how far removed Jalisco is from Rocky Point.
In the second picture you'll see how it's similar to how what's going on in New York City wouldn't affect someone going to Jacksonville, Florida.
So, don't fear all of Mexico because of what's going on in an area of Mexico. Don't go to Puerto Vallarta at the moment.
But, it's safe to go to Puerto Penasco. There's no advisories for Sonora Mexico, which is the state Puerto Penasco is in.

Next time you're in Rocky Point you have to take a little time and go visit the SeaShell Museum which is now at Cedo Intercultural Mex.

What started out in 2017 as an amazing curated collection of seashells by Naomi Black, a Puerto Penasco local, has now moved to a new location and is now opened daily for visitors. Naomi has teamed up with the Intercultural Center for Desert and Ocean Studies (CEDO Intercultural), and has moved the SeaShell museum on-site at the CEDO location, so many more visitors can visit this fantastic gem. The museum has been voted the #1 museum to visit in the State of Sonora by Trip Advisor. It is a must see in my book!!
