On June 17, 2016 a corrupt Mexican government and part of our own Tulum Hotel Association ganged up and forcefully took over 16 properties on the beach in Tulum.

Our beloved Utopia was one of them. It was a painful push but is what is. When I look down from above on the footprint of where Utopia Tulum once stood it seems like such a small parcel of land when in reality it felt larger than life for so long.

When your heart gets a hole torn in it I guess it leaves a space for something new to fill. And so it will be with Utopia...

this video is pretty great! a job well done.

although I would argue with them on Zamas...i think the best thing about that place is their live music almost every night during high season!!! and dinner is great ; ) that said I honestly have not had their Huevos Ranchoeros but now will have to give them a try!!

Change has come to tranquil Tulum, now with traffic and crowds, but the beach is still stunning and the water as clear as a fishbowl.
