Our Story

The story began many years ago, when several ships from Africa sailed through the Caribbean towards the Americas, carrying seeds, spices and animals. One of those ships was shipwrecked off the coast of Quintana Roo during a terrible storm. Few survivors swam ashore, and as they thanked the gods for saving their lives, they watched a zebra swim ashore and gallop into the jungle. Taking it as a sign from the Divine, these sailors were so grateful that they decided to name the place after its spirit animal and symbol of their good fortune: La Zebra.

Sitting directly on Tulum’s beautiful beach, La Zebra is a fun and relaxed family-friendly hotel with great local food and vibrant ambience.
