The temazcal isn't something you watch, it's something you go through. Heat, steam, herbs, darkness, a guide who knows exactly what they're doing. It asks something of you, and it gives something back. People come out different than they went in, lighter somehow, like they left something behind in there.

Ask about it when you arrive. It's not on every itinerary, but it should be on yours.

The rest of the morning at Mia Tulum is where it gets complicated. A few steps to the balcony and the ocean's already there, waiting, doing that thing it does with the light. Or maybe today's a jacuzzi kind of morning, coffee in hand, the sea somewhere in the distance, not going anywhere.

Balcony or jacuzzi. Honestly, that might be the hardest decision you make all week.
