🌟 Important Update for Columbus Day Weekend and Beyond! 🌟

Dear Reef RV Park community,

We are thrilled to see the incredible interest in spending Columbus Day weekend with us! 🏕️ As of now, we are fully booked for October 6th to 10th, and we can't wait to host all our wonderful guests.

For those planning to visit us in the days leading up to Columbus Day weekend, we do have some availability in our back area. It's a fantastic opportunity to enjoy your vacation with us.

Starting on the 10th, spaces will open up in the back area. However, please note that our ocean view, beachfront, and beachfront deluxe sites are expected to remain fully booked for the rest of the month.

If any cancellations occur, rest assured that we'll promptly post updates right here on our Official page. 📢

The city is hosting the "Great Desert Race" on October 14th and 15th, 2023! 🏅 This event offers various distances, from the challenging ULTRA TRAIL 75K and MEGA DESERT RUN 50K to the fun-filled BEACH & DESERT RUN 25K* and BEACH FUN RUN 10K*.

Experience one of the most extreme and biodiverse routes in North America, making it a unique adventure you won't forget! 🌎

📅 Itinerary:

Friday, October 13: Packet and competitor kit pickup at the venue to be confirmed (4:00 PM - 9:00 PM).
Saturday, October 14: Ultra Trail and Mega Desert Run start at 7:00 AM, followed by lunch and dinner at Playa San Jorge.
Sunday, October 15: All categories start at 7:30 AM, with the 10K finish at 9:00 AM and awards ceremony at 11:10 AM.

🌊🔍 Did You Know? Meet the Portuguese Man-of-War! 🐠

📣 At The Reef RV Park, we believe in keeping our beachgoers informed and safe during their summer adventures. Today, let's learn about the fascinating Portuguese Man-of-War, a unique creature found in coastal waters during the spring and summer seasons. Here are some intriguing facts:

1️⃣ Not a Jellyfish: The Portuguese Man-of-War is not a jellyfish but a siphonophore, which is a colony of specialized animals working together as one.

2️⃣ Balloon-like Appearance: Resembling a shiny balloon, its float can reach up to 6 inches (15 cm) in height.

3️⃣ Long Tentacles: Beware of its te****les! They can grow as long as 165 feet (50 m) and are equipped with venom-filled cells, even after they've washed ashore.

While encounters with Portuguese Man-of-War are rare, it's important to know how to stay safe if you come across one. Remember these tips:

✅ Neutralize the Venom: Immediately rinse the affected area with vinegar to neutralize the venom. Avoid using seawater, cold packs, urine, or other substances that may trigger more venom release.

✅ Scrape, Don't Touch: Instead of using your hands, gently scrape the area with a flat object (like a credit card) to remove any te****le residue.

✅ Seek Assistance: If stung or unsure, don't hesitate to reach out to our knowledgeable staff for guidance and support.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Barb, an extraordinary individual and a true champion for animal welfare. Barbara, the founder of Barb's Dog Rescue in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, dedicated her life to saving and finding loving homes for countless dogs in need.

Barbara's unwavering dedication and passion for the well-being of animals was truly inspiring. She started her shelter from scratch and worked tirelessly, often for long hours, to provide a safe haven for over 400 dogs at a time. Her selflessness and determination touched the lives of thousands of dogs and their adoptive families.

Barbara's legacy will live on through the remarkable work she accomplished. Her shelter, which began with humble beginnings, now finds new homes for over 2,400 dogs each year. The impact she had on preventing unwanted litters and saving countless lives is immeasurable.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Barbara's family, friends, and the entire team at Barb's Dog Rescue. We are grateful for the incredible impact she had on our community and the countless families she helped find their furry companions. Her kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to animal welfare will never be forgotten.
