Whether you're in the San Quintin Valley for a week-long mission trip, an overnight stop on your way south, or visiting friends, there's a lot to see and do. One of the natural jewels in our valley is Los Humedale, an area that spans 5,000 hectares (about 20 square miles) that is rich in biodiversity and home to many species found only in this area. One of the best ways to explore this wonder is by kayaking through the labyrinthine water channels. On land, visitors can enjoy the the tranquility and extensive areas of vegetation that make the wetlands a haven for birds and an ideal place for bird watching. The scenery is truly incredible, with the Baja California desert gradually fading away to reveal vast plains covered with green seagrasses.

One of the great aspects of visiting the San Quintin Valley are many opportunities to experience traditional Mexican celebrations. Tomorrow, November 17, Eternal Anchor – a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive disability services in our valley – is hosting a Mexican kermés from 4-6 p.m. at their school in Poblado Chula Vista on Calle Sexta next to the Centro de Salud Comunitario (just north of the bridge on the east side of Highway 1). A Mexican kermés is a traditional celebration that many schools, churches, and organizations hold to help raise funds and bring the community together.
