Royal Geographic Society Mulu Expedition 77-79 Reunion.

These are the members of the Royal Geographic Society's Mulu Expedition 77-79. Their scientific expedition is largely responsible for exploring and documenting Mulu's cave and ecosystem, and their work is the foundational basis of turning Mulu into what it is today.

If you have been to, and enjoyed Mulu, you can thank these people for it. It was a major expedition that was deep in the interiors of Sarawak.

As an officer in the Sarawak National Parks and Wildlife department, David was a member of this expedition to put one Sarawak's crowing natural wonders on the world map.

This is our famous Sup-terjun "St. Petrus" aka Luang Tuni

Fresh fish from our running-water pond and with garden ingredients, it is simple to prepare and delicious to eat with steam cooked finest Bario rice!

Well, try it sometimes when you get to dropby at our place. You fish it, I'll prepare and cook it. Give-thanks (Give an offering) to my Father for all of it though.😂

Anyways, in Galilean Aramaic, a common way to say "eat well" would be something like "ma'al'ah'i'e" (meaning "May you eat well").

In Kelabit, we say "kuman dooq-dooq" (meaning "May you eat well").

Well, just saying that, it's easy enough to understand Aramaic language, it is also easy enough to had believed and still follow Yehosua Hamashiach Jesus Christ as our true Saviour, Lord and God!💪

Yum-yum-yum! Let's dive-in (terjun) and eat whilst it is still hot! Thank you LORD! Amen! 😋

All natives carry a machette on them, it's their standard tool. Naturally, every community had their own blacksmiths, especially so for very isolated communities like the Kelabits.

The Kelabits also have a very unique machette kit. It always comes in a pair. There's the main machette, and there's a side 'knife'.
We use the machette for everything, but with the small, intricate and precise cuts, (like with food) we take out the knife.

Back in the mid 80's, David came across a sawmill that made broomsticks, and got them to custom tune a whole bunch of these into handle sized wooden rods. Then paired them to brass tubes and later on drilled holes for the special kelabit style blades. He had boxes and boxes of them made in the 80's.

Making these knives is a time intensive effort, and they were usually made by the owners themselves. As the list of kelabit men who could make their own wooden handles die off, these special knives are now steadily selling away.
