BRIDGE STREET PRAWN NOODLE

Just 3 minutes walk from Red Door Penang, this stall with a long history will serves you good old Penang Hokkien Mee (prawn noddles). Opens from 7am to 2.30pm, this stall had been serving good breakfast and lunch for a long time. Please take note that they are close on Mondays. I'll highly recommend all my Non-Muslim guest to try out this authentic Hokkien Mee.

Mystery Village Cafe & Pub.

One of the newest hidden bar in Penang, Mystery Village Cafe & Pub, that occupied a few shop lots along Penang's famous Chulia Street in the UNESCO heritage core zone. It's an open concept hidden bar set up within some very old interior of 5 facelifted front facade prewar heritage buildings. With drinking and dinning area situated at different part of the 5 prewar terrace building, each area is decorated very differently with different theme. The whole place comes alive after sunset. Drinks are reasonably price, 5 half pints of beers will only set you back RM40 during the happy hours (Before 7pm). There are a few vendors that sells food within. They will come take order at your table. We ordered a whole roast duck at only RM48 to go with our beer.
I am impressed by the fact that such a big place can be so well hidden. Surprised by the size of this hidden bar which I initially thought was only a single shop lot.
Overall a nice experience. I'll recommend all my Non-Muslim guest to go check out this new hidden bar.
From Red Door Penang, it is just 13 minutes walk.

Speakeasy Bars in Penang.

I would like to share here 11 new Speakeasy bars in Penang compiled by penangfoodie.com . Your visit to Georgetown is considered incomplete if you didn't at least visit 1 of these Speakeasy bars.

Every time I tell my friends and guests about Speakeasy bars, they will stare blank at me. I have to repeat "hidden bars".

A speakeasy, also called a blind pig or blind tiger, is an illicit establishment that sells alcoholic beverages. Such establishments came into prominence in the United States during the Prohibition era (1920–1933, longer in some states). During that time, the sale, manufacture, and transportation (bootlegging) of alcoholic beverages was illegal throughout the United States.

The Pokok - all day bar

Weather in Penang is so hot and humid this few days. Decided to get a few friends to try out this new bar in Penang. We went there early and ordered a bucket of Becks just to have a feel of this new gem in Georgetown before we commit for more drinks. This place used to be an open air private car park and is now converted to an open air bar. Their main structure is made up of 20 & 40 footers shipping containers with some extendable awnings that form the sheltered area where the bar counter is and a roof top seating area above the containers. Currently there are no happy hours discount which I hope in future they'll add this common practice. Drinks are reasonably price and atmosphere is good. The crowd starts to flow in from 8pm and by 9pm it's almost full house. A 2 piece band play some nice acoustic songs starts at around 9pm during the interval of the band, they play some club music. We ordered a bottle of whiskey that comes with 5 cans of mixer of your choice, of cause we negotiate for more and the manager gracefully obliged us. Overall I should say this bar is enjoyable. I had taken some photos of their menu and the place when it was still not crowded.

About 11 minutes walk from Red Door Penang. I would recommend to have dinner at Chulia Street Hawkers before heading to Pokok just a few buildings opposite.

The nearest convenient shop is "VICTORIA MART" along Victoria street which is about 2 minutes walk from Red Door.

The nearest supermarket and department store is "PACIFIC" at Komtar walk that is about 12 minutes walk from Red Door.

Tai Tong Restaurant 大東酒楼

Every time someone visit Penang will ask if there's a nice Dim Sum restaurant in Georgetown? Yes there many but there is one traditional push cart Dim Sum restaurant that is worth going and it's none other than Tai Tong Restaurant at 45, Lebuh Cintra. 10 minutes walk from Red Door Penang, it is open daily in 2 shifts, 6am to 2.30pm and 6.15pm to 11.30pm. Price are reasonable and selections of Dim Sums are wide. Just take a look at the photos. Enjoy!😋😊☺
