The building is a converted traditional Penang link shophouse, with its characteristic narrow, unassuming entrance but long, spacious interior. SERVICES
The four-storey building offers three floors of air-conditioned, shared dormitory-style rooms as well as private rooms for individuals and different-sized groups (air-con on between 9pm and 10am; fans available during the day). Private beds with curtains, reading lights, individual power sockets, hooks for clothing and lockers. Our beds are spacious and solidly built to the frame so you won't have to worry about rickety beds. Guests get linen, storage, hot showers, hairdryers and shared bathroom facilities at no extra charge, while towels can be purchased or hired. The common lounge area has a guitar and piano for guests interested in performing at hostel events or to play for leisure; board games; book exchange; cable TV and free wi-fi. More peace-assuring services are CCTV surveillance, free hot and cold drinking water, a women-only floor, noticeboard, bicycle hire, laundry facilities, airport/coach transfer, convenience shop, maps and tourist information as well as organized activities. Our reception services run from 9am to 6pm. Check-in outside of reception hours may be requested over email, text (Whatsapp) or phone. Check-in is from 2pm and guests check out at noon. To enjoy group discounts (school trips, sports groups, large family events etc) and stays longer than 2 weeks at Peace, do contact us directly. For guests travelling into Penang Island, the hostel is less than 10 minutes' drive from the jetty (ferry from Butterworth/Penang Sentral) or about 45 minutes from the Penang International Airport and Penang/Sungai Nibong Coach Station. The easiest access to Peace Hostel is to turn into Rope Walk (Jalan Pintal Tali) from Lebuh Chulia. We're on the right, in the building in a slight recess in the street (that nook we told you about earlier really does exist). The RapidPenang bus station is by the jetty, an easy walk or short drive away, for access to different parts of the island. Moving around Old Georgetown is easy on foot, bicycle, Penang trishaws and other public transport available all around the hostel. SAFETY INFORMATION & HOUSE RULES
At Peace Hostel, we encourage our guests to "keep the peace" through respectful behaviour, by maintaining a low noise level in rooms and by observing cleanliness. Guest safety and comfort are key priorities with us. We encourage all our guests to share in this responsibility. Visitors are welcome in our common lounge area but nowhere else in the building for security reasons. There is strictly no smoking on the premises and to ensure dorm-mates are comfortable, eating and drinking (except for water) are not allowed in rooms. The use of drugs is illegal and strictly prohibited. The premises is under CCTV surveillance for maximum security. For the sake of the environment, we ask that our guests be mindful with the use of water and electricity. OTHER INFORMATION
This is a non-smoking establishment. We apologise that we cannot accommodate pets (as much as we love animals!) and that our building is not yet accessible for guests with physical disabilities. Full payment for bookings are payable at check-in (possible to book and pay day-by-day). We collect a one-off RM30 deposit for any length of stay, which will be returned at checkout.
