A walk through Muntri Mews feels like stepping back into old Penang. Once a real communal parking space for horse carriages, this historic mews has been beautifully transformed into a charming boutique hotel while still preserving its original soul.
Just next door is Building 81, a heritage home dating back to the 1890s that has survived two World Wars and continues to stand proudly today. Now restored as part of the boutique hotel experience, it offers a glimpse into Penang’s rich Peranakan and colonial past. Beyond accommodation, it has become a special venue for birthdays, family gatherings, celebrations, and memorable Tok Panjang (long table) dining experiences where people come together to share food, stories, and laughter under one historic roof. A place where heritage is not only preserved, but lived and celebrated.
