To start, we always wanted to fix up a house that's 14 feet by 60 feet in size.
We got this idea from seeing our friends' houses, which gave us lots of ideas on how to make this kind of layout look great.
In 2023, we bought this house in Taman Cempaka, Ipoh, in its original, unrenovated, and unextended condition.
The downstairs central area was pretty dim, even in daylight.
Here are the things we did to the house:
1) As we extend the back, we added in 2ft of transparent awning, 10ft of usual awning, and lastly 2ft of transparent awning again.
This way, we could have plenty of sunlight coming in from the top without having any window, as we wanted some privacy from our neighbors who extended the back of their houses.
2) We added a room right next to the entrance, which used to be the living room space, while ensuring there was enough room for an entryway.
3) We also added a bathroom upstairs for convenient.
4) For the downstairs bathroom, we arranged two bathroom sinks outside, adjacent to the stairs, to create space for a bathtub.
In order to create a view for the house, we built an extra wall with 3 display windows: 1 transparent window for the bathroom, 1 semi-transparent horizontal glass for the living room, and 1 semi-transparent vertical glass for the kitchen area.
This part of live plant + semi-transparent glass + lighting installed is by far our favorite. Who said you can't have view and bathtub for a small house eh?
We always believe that we don't need a large house to be called home, just need the right one.
