On 25 February 2025, Muhammad Thaqif Masod marked his birthday by beginning something bigger than himself. He became our very first Senior HELANG under Project HELANG โ SKS Hospitalityโs commitment to nurture young Malaysians through education, structure and real-world exposure.
Over twelve months, Thaqif walked the full spectrum of our operations.
He learned the foundations at ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐ข ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ,
embraced the vibrant energy of ๐
๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ก๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ก๐ซ๐ฎ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐,
strengthened his service instincts at ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐ข ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ฃ๐๐ฒ๐,
and sharpened his standards within an international framework at Four Points by Sheraton Desaru.
Different teams. Different expectations. Different pressures.
What remained constant was his discipline and quiet determination.
Today, upon completing the one-year programme, Thaqif graduates as a Front Office Supervisor at the newly opened Four Points by Sheraton Johor Bahru.
The title matters.
But the transformation matters more.
Project HELANG was never created merely to fill positions. It was built to widen access โ to ensure that belonging does not stop at our lobby doors. A hospitality brand must create spaces for guests, yes. But it must also create pathways for the community, especially for young people finding their footing in life.
This journey stands on many shoulders.
To the General Managers of every hotel that hosted and shaped him โ thank you for opening your operations, your time, and your trust.
And to his mentor, Kenneth Priyantha, General Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Johor Bahru โ thank you for guiding him through his final stretch with clarity and conviction.
Above all, gratitude to our parent company, SKS Group, for steadfastly supporting community-building efforts in the spirit of our founderโs philosophy โ that progress is meaningful only when it uplifts the communities in which we operate.
Thaqifโs story is our reminder.
When given structure, belief and opportunity, a young person does not just grow.
He rises.
And this is only the beginning.
