Kuching in Sarawak, like Kota Kinabalu in Sabah is the capital city of their respective states. However that is where their similarities end.

Kuching is a riverine city whereas KK is coastal.

Kuching, due to its colonial past under the Brooke dynasty has more colonial era buildings compared to relatively recent KK.

Which ever you choose, both cities have something special to offer to travellers and tourists alike.
