Funny how we started all this because we wanted freedom.

No fixed place. No rules. No one telling us what to do.

And somehow… we ended up with leases, stores, a team depending on us
— and now, a mall

Turns out growing up (and growing a business) is basically becoming the person who keeps changing their own mind.

We used to think changing our minds meant we didn’t know what we wanted.
Now we think it just means we know more than we did before.

So yes, we said we’d never open in a mall.
Anyway, store no. 4 is in a mall.

After Five — Quill City Mall KL.
Grand Opening: 6 September (Sun), from 9am.
Come say hi

Maybe never say never lah.

We’re not really the anniversary kind of people.

Nine years together.
Not a single proper anniversary celebration.

Just...
”since we‘re already out, might as well celebrate.“

No proposal.
No grand plan.

Just a long list of weird decisions we both somehow said,
”yeah, let’s do it.“
梦想婚礼 by My Dream Wedding

So when people ask,
”When are you getting married?“

Honestly...
we don‘t really know either.

This pre-wedding photoshoot?

Not because we’re suddenly getting married.

We just wanted to try something we‘ve never done before.

We thought two people who aren’t exactly romantic
would spend the whole shoot wondering where to put our hands.

Turns out...

it felt way more natural than we expected.

And finally...

our photo album has one decent photo together
that wasn‘t randomly taken by Nik.

“Only then did I realize,
Malaysians don’t know how lucky they actually are.”

After coming back from China,
the biggest takeaway wasn’t what we learned.

It was finally seeing
what we already had.

Our generation of Malaysians
often thinks we can’t grow
because other people’s soil is better.

But maybe the problem
was never the soil.
Maybe we’ve just been underestimating
the ground we’re standing on.

Honestly,
building the life you want
isn’t as impossible as you think.

Complaining is okay.
But after complaining, then what?

Those who stay still
can only keep complaining.
Those who move
at least get to see a different view.

So if you’ve ever thought,
“Why is it so hard to do this here?”

Don’t rush to blame the environment.
Go see the world.
Then come back
and look at where you’re standing.

You might realize
you already have more than enough to begin.

Have you ever complained about Malaysia too?

Honestly,
our entrepreneurship journey never had a “noble beginning.”

No unique vision.
No idea that nobody had ever thought of before.
No dramatic feeling of
“I was born to do this.”

We simply saw what other people were doing,
thought, “Eh, this looks possible,”
and copied.

But later on, we realised—
copying itself is not the problem.

The real question is:
after you copy,
do you have the ability to turn it into something of your own?

A lot of people don’t dare to start
because they feel their idea is not original enough.

But after everything we’ve been through these few years,
we’ve learned one thing:

Your starting point never decides your ending.
The way you move does.

Btw!! Guangzhou experts, please help us out — where should we go?
Food, places, business spots, anything worth seeing.
We want to learn, observe… and maybe “copy” something back again.

Someone asked me,
“What’s the hardest part about running multiple outlets?”

It’s not hiring people.
It’s not finding locations.
It’s not even money.

It’s the day you suddenly realize —
the thing taking up most of your time
has nothing to do with why you started the business in the first place.

Eventually, we had to clean up our whole system,
including replacing the old way of working that honestly couldn’t manage three outlets anymore.

Now, we’re using

Finding the right system
isn’t about being lazy.
It’s about getting your time back
for the things that actually deserve it.

What are you currently “stuck” with in your business?
Tell us below.
Maybe we’ve been through the same thing too.

Some people say, “just do it.”
We also said that.

Then we got 0 sales,
complaints,
landlord drama,
and suddenly “freedom” started looking suspiciously like another full-time job.

So no, this is not a “how to become successful” session.

It’s more like:
“here’s what we learned after getting punched by real life, but still somehow continued.”

already started,
or currently wondering why they started.

Lately, people have been asking
when we’re doing another session
about “entrepreneurship”

We kept putting it off…
but yeah, we’re doing it again

——

Last time we did this
we had nothing

just making coffee at home

Now somehow
we have 3 stores

But honestly
we’re still not sure
if we’re actually “good at business”

We just have a lot of stories

——

Most people talk about success

But for us
it’s been problem after problem

(and weirdly…
that’s what makes it interesting)

——

So if you’re looking for answers
you might be disappointed

But if you have questions
about starting something
or living a different kind of life

come hang out

——

You bring your questions
we’ll share what we’ve learned

Not sure if it’ll help
but it’ll be real

——

What do you think?

Do these kind of
“entrepreneurship chats”
actually help?

2023 —
we chose a different route.
No 9–5.
Just a car, some coffee, and a lot of uncertainty.
We drove around West Malaysia,
learning more about people than business.

2024 —
After Five was born.
A small café.
Small enough to survive.
Real enough to matter.

2026 —
We opened our third store.
Not because it was easy.
Not because it was glamorous.
But because we’re still here.
Still building.
Still choosing this life.

No “safe” plan.
No regrets.

After Five — Sri Petaling.
Chapter three.

Grand Opening : 28 Feb 2026
Welcome, to all of you ✨

Being misunderstood is the fate of anyone who chooses to speak.

If everyone could understand you,
then how ordinary would you have to be?

Expression was never meant to be caught by everyone.
The moment you speak, you’re bound to be simplified, misread, and labelled.
Some people listen with care, others judge casually.
It’s unfair — and it’s normal.

The real danger isn’t being criticised.
It’s quietly falling into the trap of self-justification.
Explaining every detail, proving every intention,
trying to make everyone “finally get you.”

But you’ll never finish explaining.
Because some people were never here to understand you in the first place.

Those who truly love you,
who care about how you feel,
who choose to believe in you —
they’ll naturally stand by your side.
Not because you convinced them,
but because they understand the life you’re living.

As for everyone else —
they don’t matter.

Bring your attention back.
Listen to yourself more.
And remind yourself gently:
I’m on my way. I’m getting better.

That’s enough.☁️

28/11/2025

At 27, I stopped waiting for life to understand me.

No one’s coming.
No one’s handing out the “right time.”
You either sit and expect…
Or move, and become the answer yourself.

Truth is — you don’t need permission to grow.
You just need to start.

📌This one’s for anyone waiting for a sign.
This is it.
