The Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA®) was pleased to participate in the Jakarta International Premium Products Fair (JIPREMIUM) 2026, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The delegation was led by YH Dato' Sri Vijayendren, Chairman of the National Foreign Trade Affairs Bureau, together with Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, National President of MyBHA®.

MyBHA® was honoured to be invited to participate in the limited Hosted Buyer Programme, alongside a select group of members. The programme provided valuable opportunities to engage with exhibitors and suppliers, explore new products and solutions, gain insights into emerging market trends, and identify potential collaborations relevant to Malaysia’s hospitality industry.

The participation also provided a platform for our members to establish new business connections, explore sourcing opportunities, and strengthen engagement with industry stakeholders from Indonesia and the wider region.

MyBHA® remains committed to creating meaningful opportunities for our members to gain international exposure, expand their business networks, and explore innovative solutions that contribute to a more competitive and progressive hospitality industry.

The 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁 & 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗠𝘆𝗕𝗛𝗔®) had the pleasure of holding a courtesy visit and strategic discussion with 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮, aimed at 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝘆𝗕𝗛𝗔® 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁.

Tourism Malaysia Jakarta was represented by 𝗠𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗱 𝗬𝗮𝗸𝘇𝗮𝗻, Director of Tourism Malaysia Jakarta, and 𝗠𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗶 𝗛𝗮𝗷𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗱 𝗬𝘂𝗻𝘂𝘀, Director of Tourism Malaysia Jakarta. Representing MyBHA® were 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗹, National President; 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗼' 𝗛𝗷𝗵 𝗘𝗺𝗺𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗛𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗶𝗻, Past National President cm Advisor; 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗼' 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗞. 𝗩𝗶𝗷𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, Chairman of the National Foreign Trade Affairs Bureau; and 𝗠𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗔𝘇𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻, Secretary of the National Foreign Trade Affairs Bureau.

During the discussion, both parties exchanged views on opportunities to further strengthen tourism cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia, particularly in enhancing the visibility and participation of MyBHA® member hotels in tourism promotional activities. Among the key matters discussed were the possibility of organising promotional programmes, seminars and industry engagement sessions involving MyBHA® members, as well as creating opportunities for members to participate in Tourism Malaysia promotional events and related tourism initiatives in Indonesia.

The discussion also explored the potential of 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁, incorporating accommodation at MyBHA® member budget hotels, business hotels and resorts together with relevant tourism products and experiences. Such initiatives can help make travel to Malaysia more accessible and value-driven while at the same time generating greater business opportunities and room demand for MyBHA® members.

MyBHA® believes that affordable accommodation plays an important role in strengthening Malaysia’s competitiveness as a tourism destination, particularly for families, groups, leisure travellers and value-conscious visitors from Indonesia. By working together with Tourism Malaysia and relevant tourism industry partners, MyBHA® hopes to support the development of packages that offer visitors greater value while encouraging longer stays, wider travel across Malaysia and increased tourism spending.

Indonesia remains an important tourism market for Malaysia, and MyBHA® looks forward to working closely with Tourism Malaysia Jakarta to create meaningful promotional opportunities that can directly benefit our members while supporting the continued growth of Malaysia’s tourism and hospitality industry.

President of the Malaysian Budget and Business Hotel Association (MyBHA), Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, said the move is also vital to protect the safety of residents and tourists, while ensuring fairness and legal compliance.

“Penang has proven that effective action can be taken when there is political will and a strong commitment to ensuring fairness and legality in business operations.

“However, the effectiveness of these by-laws depends entirely on enforcement. Unlicensed operators cannot be allowed to continue accepting bookings and reaping profits, while licensed accommodation providers are required to comply with every legal requirement,” he said in a statement today.

On 27 August 2026, the Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA®) was represented by our 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗹 at a hospitality-focused session organized by 𝗥𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗰 and 𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗘 at VE Hotel & Residence, Bangsar South.

The session brought together hospitality industry professionals to explore how digital engagement, smarter payment solutions and cross-border payment technologies can help hotels enhance the guest experience, reduce payment friction and better cater to the needs of international travellers.

It was also a valuable platform for industry networking, knowledge sharing and exchanging ideas on the future of Malaysia’s hospitality sector.
