The Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA®), led by its National President, Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, together with members of the National Executive Council, paid a courtesy visit to Trip.com as part of MyBHA®’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders within the tourism and hospitality ecosystem.

The meeting provided an excellent platform for both parties to exchange views on current industry developments, market trends, and opportunities for greater collaboration. Discussions also focused on potential future initiatives aimed at supporting the growth, sustainability, and competitiveness of Malaysia’s hospitality industry.

MyBHA® looks forward to fostering a constructive and mutually beneficial partnership with Trip.com, particularly in areas that will create value for accommodation operators, enhance traveller experiences, and contribute towards the continued growth of Malaysia’s tourism sector.

The Malaysian Short-Term Rental Association (MySTRA), led by its President, Jayden Lee, paid a courtesy visit to the Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA®) and the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) at the MyBHA® Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

The delegation was received by Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, National President of MyBHA®, Datin Christina Toh, President of MAH, together with members of the leadership teams from both associations.

The meeting served as a platform for constructive discussions on the future of Malaysia’s accommodation industry, particularly the need for a clear, fair and comprehensive regulatory framework for the Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) sector.

During the engagement, MySTRA shared its aspiration for the establishment of proper regulations governing STRA operations in Malaysia. MyBHA®, MAH and MySTRA acknowledged that effective regulation is essential to ensure consumer protection, fair competition, compliance with safety and operational standards, and the sustainable growth of the accommodation industry.

The associations also noted that their objectives, vision and mission are largely aligned in promoting professionalism, accountability and responsible business practices within the tourism and hospitality ecosystem.

The courtesy visit concluded positively, with all parties expressing their commitment to continued engagement and collaboration in support of a well-regulated, sustainable and competitive accommodation industry for Malaysia.

The Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA®) successfully convened its National Council Meeting No. 3/2025–2026, chaired by Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, National President of MyBHA®.

The meeting brought together National Council Members and Bureau Chairpersons to review the Association’s progress, discuss key industry developments, and deliberate on strategic initiatives for the benefit of MyBHA® members and the hospitality industry.

Among the key matters discussed were the Association’s governance and administration, financial updates, state chapter and bureau reports, industry advocacy efforts, strategic collaborations, and plans for upcoming programmes and initiatives.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the signing of the Music Copyright Licence Agreement between MyBHA® and Public Performance Malaysia (PPM), providing MyBHA® members with access to special preferential licensing rates and benefits.

The Council reaffirmed MyBHA®’s commitment to representing and advancing the interests of licensed budget hotels, business hotels, inns, resorts, glamping operators, and hospitality industry stakeholders throughout Malaysia, while supporting the growth of a sustainable, competitive, and resilient tourism and hospitality sector.

MyBHA® extends its appreciation to all Council Members and Bureau Chairpersons for their continued support, dedication, and contribution towards strengthening the Association and the industry.

: Hotels in Johor are anticipating a surge in bookings in the coming months as talk of an impending state election grows louder.
