SCAM ALERT!!
Another holiday peak season, another round of scam. Every holiday season, we received loads of feedbacks from our dear guests and friends that they being scammed, or thankfully only nearly being scammed, after consulting us.
1. Offer too good to be true rates in their “purchased” page which having many thousand followers and many postings. They are normally using other legitimate homestay units photos.
2. During WhatsApp enquiry, they will offer anything you asked for even it is not possible. Eg. Swimming pool usage at Vivacity homestay, which is not allowed since 2023.
3. They will try their best to create urgency so you worry the rooms sold out due to low pricing, hence you direct pay full amount. Then they will disappear forever with your money.
4. They will threaten you if you end up not paying them after asking a lot, just like any other scams out there. Proper homestay operators will not scold and threaten you when you ask things properly or cancel bookings with proper reasons.
If you are unsure and do not have any experience in booking homestay online, please use proper platforms such as Airbnb or Booking.com, Agoda etc. Proper platforms charge you service fees for reasons of protecting you and also homestay hosts.
Anything too good to be true might be scams. Please always stay alert so you do not lose your hard earn money to illegal activities.
