The first honey harvest - Producing our own honey has always been an ambition and it is start to happen. Lorinna is driving this forward and is doing a great job. Today Lorinna cleared out 2 hives, honey yet to be cleaned, the harvest is a little smaller than expected but it seems to be a good start.

We said "See you again" to a long stay guest this morning - Georgina, a lovely young lady from Germany that stayed with us for 5 and a half weeks, narrowly missing DJ's record of 6 weeks. Georgina enjoyed our place as she felt at home, enjoyed being surr by nature and said she fe't settled and welcome.
We ( the whole family) really enjoyed hosting Georgina and wish her all the very best with her future travels and endeavours, we are sure our paths will cross again.

One of the jungles hazards, locally known as a lipan, the giant biting Asian centipede - get bitten by one of these and you'll know about !! I have been bitten 16 times, so I speak from painful experience.
Here the eggs have hatched out and she is nursing the babies, the weird thing is that she actually looked as if she was eating them.

Highlighting our wildlife reserve.
11 acres of jungle given over to the local flora and fauna to offer them a sanctuary to hopefully thrive and for our guests a place where they can have the opportunity to see the flora and fauna in its natural habitat and a peaceful place to sit back and enjoy nature and the peaceful environment. Within the reserve we have a 100ft long suspension bridge, joining a beautiful valley, a 30 ft rope bridge, 40 ft high observation tower and a trail to allow guests access to it all.

With the end of the wet season upon us the area becomes even more enchanting - Flat calm seas, amazing sunsets, a fabulous night sky and the best beaches in Borneo to wander along and discover.

Eggs on toast ( our normal Tampat Do Aman breakfast) - Maybe nothing unusual about that BUT for us this marks a success. In 2018 we made a conscious shift for our groups of students that visit us to help with the community, the second poorest district in Malaysia, we decided to focus on helping families in our community to use the groups to help improve their income by building chicken sheds, pig stys and Duck ponds to allow individual families to generate extra income into their house holds. The eggs represent success as we are now buying our eggs directly from the villagers and adding extra income into their households. Very grateful to the groups that have enabled this to happen, by building the enclosures and pleased to say that we are making a difference to the community.

Currently still on the mission to thin out our nature reserve to allow more local flora and fauna to thrive rather than the invasive species, this and also to allow our customers to be able to see more of what is making our reserve it's home ( lots) and I suddenly became aware of these guys - night wasps ( Sobutan), luckily I did as these pack a punch, I know from past experience.
It's not the big things in the jungle we worry about, more the smaller things like these guys.
