Batu Batu is an all-villa, boutique resort set amongst coconut groves on the tropical, uninhabited island of Pulau Tengah in the South China Sea. The resort is built in the Malay vernacular style to blend as unobtrusively as possible with the natural beauty of the island and consists of 20 1-bedroom and 2 2-bedroom villas. Besides the island's eight sandy beaches, guests will also enjoy the open-s

ided pavilion bar and restaurant overlooking Sunset and Batu Batu Beach, fresh water swimming pool, hill-top spa, tiki bar at Long Beach and our 5-Star PADI dive centre. If you are interested in the island's marine environment and our conservation efforts, spend some time with the scientists at Tengah Island Conservation based at the Tunku Abdul Jalil Conservation Centre and Turtle Hatchery. Batu Batu is committed to the preservation, protection and proliferation of the flora and fauna in and around Pulau Tengah and beyond.

Happening this weekend: Kembali Akar, Return to Our Roots.

If you’re up for a spontaneous and meaningful getaway with the family, we still have a few last-minute villas and programme slots available.

Spend 3 nights and 4 days with us on the island, learning alongside Tengah Island Conservation through turtle patrols, citizen-science snorkels, Pulau Besar explorations, and hands-on island experiences.

A family escape with a little more purpose, just in time for the June school holidays.

Book via the link in comments.

This is how our little island has been looking lately.

We’re trying to find the one word that best describes this view… and we can’t quite agree.

Our team is always growing vegetables for the kitchen, so what’s served on your plate is as fresh as it gets, from farm to your table.

It is a simple part of life on the island, but one that makes a difference. Food that is grown here, prepared simply, and shared while it’s still full of flavour.

If you are planning your next retreat or gathering, consider bringing it here. 🌿

A little something special if you’re visiting us soon.

will be on the island from 28 May to 2 June, and if your stay happens to fall within these dates, you’re in for a treat.

A Singapore-based Qigong instructor and sound healing practitioner, Jeannette has spent years helping people release tension, regulate their nervous system, and find their way back to stillness.

While she’s here, she’ll be guiding gentle morning and evening Qigong sessions, open to all guests, no experience needed.

Just show up, breathe, and let the island do the rest. 🌊

June is shaping up to be a good one for the kids.

We’re starting with Kembali Akar: Return to Our Roots, happening from 6 to 9 June. A family immersion in marine conservation and island culture, hosted by Batu Batu and Tengah Island Conservation.

Then, the school holiday adventures continue with two outdoor camps back to back. Forest, beach, mud, movement, and plenty of time outdoors.

Hundred Paths Forest School Camp kicks off from 20 to 22 June, followed by Wildlings Island Adventure Camp from 22 June to 5 July.
Kembali Akar and Wildlings Island Adventure Camp still have limited slots available. Hundred Paths Forest School Camp is now fully booked.

Have a look at our “Upcoming Events” page or sign up for our newsletter to be the first to hear about the next one, coming later this year.

More Good Days, Together is this year's theme for Mental Health Awareness Month.

Nothing better than spending unhurried time with the people you love, exploring, soaking in nature, slowing down.

That's just how it is at Batu Batu.

Where the horizon meets stillness ✨

This is just one of the views that draws our guests back over and over again. Water stretching out into the horizon, the sky reflected back at you, and everything slowing down without you trying.

If you’ve been to Batu Batu you might remember some of our team. For those with kids, you will most probably remember Joji.

He’s been with us for over 10 years, and more often than not, you’ll spot him patiently weaving little windmills and toys from coconut or palm leaves while a small crowd of children gathers around him.

Simple things, really. But somehow, they become the moments kids remember most.

It is these small, unplanned interactions, the warmth of the people, the freedom to roam, the feeling of being known, that make so many families return time after time. 🌿

This June, Batu Batu and Tengah Island Conservation (TIC) come together to create a one-of-a-kind family immersion into marine conservation and island culture.

Kembali Akar is designed for families with children aged 7 and above, and is just as meaningful for teenagers.

Families will track turtles with marine biologists, contribute to citizen-science snorkels, and learn traditional island cooking alongside the Pulau Besar community.

This is not a drop-off programme. Parents and children experience it all together, from the boats to the water to the kitchen table.

If your child has ever wondered why turtles matter, what marine biologists do, or how communities and conservation connect, this is a chance to discover it together.

All programme fees are inclusive of accommodation, boat transfers, and boarded meals, with various villa options available.

Find out more and book through the link in the comments below.

Salt on your skin, fins in hand, and stories already being shared on the walk back.

Snorkels and flippers (fins) are available for use during your stay with us. As Lydia says: "If you get lucky you might even spot a turtle or a juvenile reef shark or a ray..."
