The resort is built in the Malay vernacular style to blend as unobtrusively as possible with the natural beauty of the island and consists of 20 1-bedroom and 2 2-bedroom villas. Besides the island's eight sandy beaches, guests will also enjoy the open-s

If you are interested in the island's marine environment and our conservation efforts, spend some time with the scientists at Tengah Island Conservation based at the Tunku Abdul Jalil Conservation Centre and Turtle Hatchery. Batu Batu is committed to the preservation, protection and proliferation of the flora and fauna in and around Pulau Tengah and beyond.

Here’s a view from the jetty that often stops our guests in their tracks, and who would’ve known that besides being so pretty, watching a sunset can actually be good for our health too?

BBC Future recently published an article on the health benefits of watching sunsets calling it “the free daily activity that gives us a health fix.”

Tag someone you’d want to watch this with, and come catch one with us soon.

What if your family holiday actually changed something? 🌿

Kembali Akar, which means "return to your roots" in Bahasa Malaysia, is a four-day family immersion across two islands where nature is your classroom, and marine biologists and local community members are your guides.

Spend your days with the team at Tengah Island Conservation, tracking nesting turtles and surveying marine life within the protected waters of the Sultan Iskandar Marine Park.

Then cross to Pulau Besar, where the women of the island welcome your family into their kitchens to learn recipes that have been passed down through generations, a living culture that is as rich as it is rare.

We ran our first Kembali Akar back in June, and what stayed with us most was how genuinely connected everyone felt, to the island, to the people here, and to a way of life that is becoming harder and harder to find.

If this sounds like the kind of trip your family needs, comment ""ROOTS"" below and we'll keep you in the loop for the next one. 💚

If you've ever wondered what happens to the food waste at Batu Batu, here's a peek behind the scenes. 🌱

All the food waste from our kitchen and team canteen goes into our on-site food composter, mixed with sawdust and turned six times a day. After about two weeks it moves into a maturity bin, where it sits for a couple of months before making its way back into our gardens.

Food waste buried in landfill breaks down without oxygen and gives off methane — a greenhouse gas many times more potent than carbon dioxide. Composting keeps the process aerobic, so that doesn't happen. It also means we're not boating food waste back to the mainland, and the nutrients stay on the island rather than leaving and being replaced with bought-in fertiliser. Island soils are thin and sandy; compost is what builds them up.

A simple loop, but that's sustainability in practice. 💚

Behind every great island stay is a team that's ready for anything.

Back in June, our team completed their First Aid and Emergency Response Training, part of our ongoing commitment to upskilling and building real capacity within our community here on the island.

At Batu Batu, our 4Cs framework guides how we operate, and Community is at the heart of it. That means investing in our people, not just as hospitality staff, but as confident, capable individuals who know how to look after one another and our guests when it matters most. Alongside that, Commerce for us means running a sustainably managed property with strong governance, and a well-trained, empowered team is a big part of what that looks like in practice.

It's not the most glamorous post we'll share, but it's one of the most important. 💚

🐠 There's a whole other world just beneath the surface here, and we'd love to show it to you.

As a PADI 5-Star Dive Resort, our qualified dive instructors are here to take you on an exploratory adventure underwater, whether you're a seasoned diver or someone who has never put on a mask before. We offer PADI courses, fun dives, Discover Scuba sessions, and snorkelling trips for those who prefer to stay a little closer to the surface.

And here's a little insider tip from our dive instructor Sheldon: his favourite spot to take first-timers? Our very own jetty. Massive schools of fish hang out right underneath it, and it never fails to leave people completely in awe.

The reefs are waiting. Head to the link in our bio to explore our full dive menu and plan your underwater adventure. 🌊

We gather in November, the season of the Metal element - in TCM, the season of the lungs, and of letting go.

Every holiday should look like this. 🌿

If you're based in Singapore and still figuring out the September school holidays, Mersing is just a few hours up the road and we're a short ferry ride from there. Close enough to be easy, far enough to feel like a proper escape.

We still have a few villas available in September and October. Head to the link in our bio to check availability before they're gone.

It was a WILD time at our first Wildings Adventure Camp.

The kids built rafts and sailed them. They caught a boat over to Pulau Besar for a half day excursion, got their hands on real tools to carve driftwood and make sea glass sculptures, foraged in the garden, and turned marine debris into art. There was coconut tree climbing, a night walk through the forest with UV torches, a campfire under the stars, and a nature film to wind the evening down.

All this while the parents had time and the island mostly to themselves - a few even mentioned it was the most relaxed they'd felt in years.

The next one's happening 5 - 9 September. Don't wait! Comment "WILD" below and we'll DM you the details!

🐢 We're at the peak of hatchling season!

After 50 to 70 days incubating in our hatchery, this month alone we're expecting around 8 nests to hatch. That's 8 batches of tiny flippers taking their first crawl toward the ocean, and it still excites us every single time.

Turtles return to the very shores where they were born to nest. Every time they come back here, it's a reminder that the work the TIC team puts in every day is truly making a difference.

If witnessing a release is on your list, now is the time. We'd love to have you here for it. 💚
