Sit back & relax as we, your future host, brief you on a Borneon adventure not to be missed! Would you like to be in the wild? Fancy staying in an authentic traditional Dayak (natives of Borneo) longhouse with a history that spans over 100 years? If you are game enough, why not head over to the Annah Rais Longhouse. Annah Rais Longhouse is one of the few remaining traditional Dayak Bidayuh (the La
nd Dayaks) longhouses in Sarawak, Borneo with a community living here. It's not a museum set up, it's for real. This is one of the bastion of Dayak Bidayuh culture. It is located in the district of Padawan, about 60km from Kuching, the capital of Sarawak. The roads leading up to the longhouse is pretty good & the ride from Kuching will take approximately 75 minutes. Physically speaking, we are seated at the foothill of Mt. Penrissen (1329m) forming part of the Penrissen Range that serves as a natural territorial border between Sarawak & Kalimantan. Located nearby is Borneo Highlands Resort perched on a plateau. Our homestay is one of the many homestays available in Annah Rais Longhouse & is proudly owned and operated by a lovely retired couple, Uncle John & Aunty Emily. Communication will be a breeze as we are all English & Bahasa Malaysia speaking. We can't guarantee other language users but if you are lucky during your stay, you might meet our cousins that speak Iban, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, French, Russian, Italian & Spanish, we kid you not. Throughout your stay with us, you will learn (hopefully) a smattering of Bidayuh sentences from our hosts besides developing an appreciation of Dayak Bidayuh customs & tradition. Don't fret about leaving civilization! Annah Rais Longhouse is 'electrified' & has piped water sourced from nearby pristine mountain spring. You can also receive cellphone signal from our location. We are equipped with satellite TV, fans, fridge, microwave, stove, clean beds & mattresses, shower rooms, Western toilets & other amenities that bring joy to city dwellers. However, we don't provide Internet, please be warned. There is quite a number of outdoor based activities that are available within the vicinity of the longhouse. As mentioned earlier, we are located at the foothill of Mount Penrissen. Hence, available outdoor activities would include climbing the peak of Mount Penrissen, jungle trekking the surrounding areas/villages, having a splash at the nearby waterfall & be rejuvenated soaking yourself in the therapeutic waters of Annah Rais Hot Spring. Oh ya, there's also Borneo Highlands Resort below Mount Penrissen which is located at the mountainous natural border of Sarawak. From this small plateau, one can enjoy a breathtaking view of Padawan & Kalimantan, Indonesia. There's also St. Philip's Parish, a small church with a big heart that serves as the spiritual guide of the community. It's located on the top of a small hill that gives a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Come join us for Sunday service. We have 2 main packages available for you. Should you require customized itinerary, please do not hesitate to contact us & we shall plan accordingly. PACKAGE 1
