Dear friends of Luma' Kembara,
As much as we wanted to continue operations of this place as a Community Centre past 31 Aug 2024 till the end of our tenancy agreement, this is now out of our hands.
On 12 Feb 2024, our landlord handed us a termination of tenancy agreement notice with the option of continuing with double the current rental. Not a financially viable option for us.
So we have no choice but to vacate by 12 Feb 2024; less than one month from now.
As we will be initiating legal action, we will be reserving our comments on this until further advice from legal counsel.
As we are unable to guarantee the safety & security of our clients & team past that date, unfortunately there is no option for us to continue here. The safety & security of everyone on our premise is always one of our main considerations & is our cease operations main factor.
The termination notice given is very short. Thus, we cannot afford to accept any guests further than those who have confirmed for the month of Jan 2024.
Please understand that we are rushed for time to clear our belongings which took months to set up. Furthermore, the date of the eviction being on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year makes logistics challenging.
We wish to say many things & will do so once the time is right. Now, we are focused on salvaging what we can. This is a huge financial blow. But we will try our best to overcome it.

To those of you who have visited: our utmost gratitude for giving us a chance. It was wonderful having you on board & a memory we will cherish.
To those who have never come here but provided all the invaluable moral, emotional support & encouragement: Often when times were tough, we looked at that. It strengthened us to keep moving forward.
If there were any shortfall & failure in our part while serving you or the community, we would also like to extend our sincere apologies. Sometimes we try our best, but our best sometimes just isn't good enough.
