She's beautiful. Our lime tree long-term resident, Wagler's Pit Viper is all grown up now. No longer a bright green baby. 🥰

Fun fact: 🐍
'Pit vipers are viviparous, which means their babies are born live (no eggs). The eggs open inside the mother's body. One of the advantages of this is that the eggs are better protected than eggs that are hatched on the ground. The number of snakes born in a litter ranges from 6 to 50. All babies are able to look after themselves as soon as they are born. Venomous snakes have fangs already loaded with venom and poison as soon as they are born.'

She loves the lime tree. And she's always hanging out around these few branches.

Asked Google lens to help identify its gender and apparently it is likely a female based on her colour and markings.

'The colours are distinct between adult female, adult male, and their young. The female adult has a black body with yellow cross bands, black post-ocular stripe and banded belly while the adult male body is green, with a black border and many greenish yellow crossbars on its back. As they mature the young vipers change their body colour. Basically, the young are all green with spots of white and red that are sometimes arranged in pale crossbars.'

After some time not seeing our little friend, she's back! And she's grown into adulthood, no longer her light, bright green colour. 😍

'Tropidolaemus wagleri is a species of viper commonly known as Wagler’s Pit Viper or Temple Viper. In Malay, it is known as Ular Kapak Tokong. This species is widely distributed in Thailand, Indonesia, West Malaysia, and the Philippines.'

There are days when everybody just need a short urban detox and yet close enough to civilization for data connection. 🤣 This view faces the Straits of Malacca where we always watch the sun set on the horizon of the sea.

The tree in my beloved Penang state flag is this Pinang tree with beautiful golden orange hued Pinang or Betel nuts. We have one or two of the Pinang trees in our garden which, through the years, have healthily grown taller & taller and.... Jack & the Beanstalk!

'Pinang, the Malay word for a species of palm commonly called Betel Nut Palm or biologically it is called Areca catechu.'
