Save the Earth at every sip🌱

One of the activities that was undergone by the Ulu-Kiulu community was the 'Battling Plastic with Bamboo Straw' project.

The community did each step of the Bamboo straw production process, from harvesting raw materials to finished products, relying on expert local knowledge.

This project not only has a positive environmental impact but has empowered the local community

On Thursday (15th June 2023) at Sabah Tourism Board (STB), another milestone was achieved in the journey between Borneo Eco Tours & Kiulu Farmstay.

Borneo Eco Tours is excited to embark on Phase 2, namely, to hand back the primary responsibility to the local community members to operate their own products and enjoy its benefits.

It is Borneo Eco Tours vision that the Kiulu community-based tourism success relies on the support of the wider tourism industry partners and players and not just with Borneo Eco Tours.

The MOU was signed between Borneo Eco Tours Managing Director, Mr.Albert Teo and the 2 land owners; Mr Sikong & Mdm. Tuwin, a representative from MUKEST Society, Mr Saidin, witnessed by YB. Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.

Borneo Eco Tours will continue to support Kiulu Farmstay in assisting in the promotion and selling of the tourism products at Kiulu, including the local homestays there through its expertise in digital marketing and social media.

The community of Kiulu Farmstay & MUKEST Society is excited about this independence & trust that is endowed to the community. Now the sky is the limit and Kiulu Farmstay will move forward and hope to grow more in the tourism industry.
