The latest development regarding the ship in front of our lodge is that several offers have been made to purchase the vessel with the intention of refloating it and moving it to a suitable location where proper repairs can be carried out. Once repaired the vessel could either be sold or put to use by the new owner. There are also several offers on the table to purchase the ship and cut it up for scrap metal. However this would be considered a last resort. We are hopeful that the right decision will be made and that the best possible solution can be found for the vessel, the environment and our surrounding area.

Good afternoon, there is no significant update on the ship in front of our lodge at this stage. The government's Maratime Department and salvage team are currently awaiting a court ruling from Maputo. The ruling is expected to set a timeframe within which the owner must either sell the vessel or forfeit ownership. We have been informed that this decision is expected to be finalised by next week. Members of the salvage crew remain on board the vessel, along with armed police officers who are there as a safety precaution. As soon as we receive further information, we will provide another update. Enjoy the weekend

Here is the latest update regarding the vessel
On Friday evening a government delegation visited the crew to ensure they were in good health and safe ahead of the expected storm. Prior to the visit, the salvage team removed all excess diesel from the vessel, retaining only the essential fuel required to operate the on-board generators. In preparation for the storm, certain compartments within the hull were ballasted with water to add weight and improve stability. The vessel is currently secured in five positions using ship anchors, as well as large tyres fastened with ropes and cables for additional reinforcement. Half of the crew disembarked yesterday. The remaining crew members will leave the vessel once weather conditions deteriorate to a point where it is no longer safe to be on board. Forecasts for Sunday 15 February, indicate ocean swells between 3 and 5 meters with winds expected to reach 70-80km/h

Here is the latest update on the ship. Authorities requested assistance to relocate two anchors approximately 150m from the stern of the vessel. The anchors had been buried in the sand and repositioning them enabled the crew to winch the ship further away from the rocks, where she had been in a dangerously close position. The operation was carried out during high tide to minimise the risk of damage to the hull. As a result, the ship was successfully moved an impressive 26m away from the rocks. In addition, the removal of diesel fuel from the vessel has begun. Trucks equipped with large containers are transporting the fuel away, and approximately 50% of the 170000 litres on board has already been removed
