We are located on Mozambique Island (Ilha de Moçambique), Nampula Province, Mozambique. We built a Bed and Breakfas
t out of ancient ruins in one of the most historically rich, physically beautiful and best preserved sites in the whole Southern African region. Vasco da Gama, anchored here in 1498 and soon afterwards Mozambique Island became the most strategic port on the route to India. The Island (A Ilha) is one of Unesco World Heritage sites and central to an endless number of bays, small islands and white beaches for great swimming and snorkeling. At Jardim dos Aloés we make an effort to make you feel as friends in our home not guests in a conventional hotel. We pay particular attention to details and personalize all areas and rooms as the historic walls and shapes suggest. The B&B complex includes the family residence, a two-room-suite/apartment, one more one-room-suites and one double bedroom, garden, terraces and verandas. The premises are called Jardim dos Aloés (or Garden of Aloes) due to the many varieties of Aloe plants grown in the property. These include the local Aloe Massawana, the imported Aloe Vera as well as Aloe Arborescens, Marlothy and many other local varieties collected by the owners. Some of them give name to a specific room and are used for making fresh Aloe Gel and very unique healthy organic jams and juices.
