Sungulo lodge

Formerly named Balule Lodge. Sungulo is a Private lodge for the project -
TWIN CITY ECOTURISMO
This project concerns the development of an area of 10,000 hectares of pristine uninhabited land situated in the district of Massingir, in the Gaza Province of Mozambique and bordering the East side of the Kruger National Park of South Africa. The land falls within the Mapulanguene Eco Development corri

dor and thus falls within the greater Peace Parks Trans Frontier Initiative. The primary objective is to stimulate ecologically sustainable economic activities based on wildlife. It is intended to restock this depleted region with a wide variety of game and to develop a number of different tourist attractions. The revenue streams arise from the sale of surplus game and from tourist activities and related products. Currently access is via a choice of either of two fairly rudimentary all-weather dirt roads from Massingir village some 25 km away. The Massingir village is situated on the main tar road from Chokwe. A new border post between Mozambique and South Africa has been established at Giryondo. This provides access via Kruger Park and the Limpopo Park although the road connecting the border post and Massingir has not yet been completed and therefore is only really suitable for 4x4 traffic. There is a sealed
airstrip at Massingir village, which is infrequently used but is in good general repair and will soon be reopened for regular traffic in order to act as the gateway
for the Mozambican end of the Trans-frontier Park.
