We recieved this wonderful review from a client who camped at Laguna in December, we are so greatful for our awesome guests.
Review:
We arrived at Laguna not expecting too much from our campsite and were so pleasantly surprised. Fatima and Louis run a tight ship and are the most awesome hosts. We arrived as strangers and left as friends.
The campsites are HUGE! Have their own private toilet, shower and kitchen. It's rustic but neat, and exceptionally clean. Staff arrive on your site each day to clean bathrooms, rake the site and remove old ash from the braai. There is plenty of shade and each site has a built in braai (bbq) with a light, drinkable water and power.
Fatima's restaurant is an absolute haven during bad weather. Her food is outstanding and the pool table comes in very handy for teens and adults alike. Her prawn risoles and peri peri chicken were the best we tasted in Mozam, never mind Bilene. Ask Fatima for a bottle of her fabulous Lemon Chello she makes, it is amazing with sprite/lemonade.
The pool is stunning and the quiet beach (no quads) is a about a 200m walk from the campsite. The put put course is good fun on a quiet afternoon too.
I have seen a few negative reviews and have to remind the readers that Laguna is Fatima and Louis lifelong dream. There are people (we witnessed this during our stay) who arrive with expectations of 5 star accommodation, are rude, demanding and badly behaved blaming municipal electrical issues on the hosts. For the average family it is a godsend that they are quick to shut this down and dont allow loud music into the middle of the night. It is these people who seem to leave the stinky reviews.
You do not get any hawkers or outsiders coming into the campsite. Access to the resort and the beach is restricted to guests, which means your belongings are safe in camp and your beach visits are peaceful. If you need Pao, Fatima always has it on hand and prawns can be purchased in town.
Laguna is closer to the town than some of the other resorts, which shaved off a good 30mins of heavy sand driving each time you need to go into Bilene.
