BUILDING UPDATE | Progress at Epupa Falls Lodge & Campsite

Another exciting step forward!

Everything is starting to take shape and the floor is almost finished. What started with foundations and a plan is slowly becoming something you can actually picture.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but we love watching this project grow, brick by brick.

We’ll keep sharing the journey as the next stage begins!

Built for the journey. Worth the detour.

There’s something special about seeing overland trucks roll into Epupa Falls after miles of dusty roads and remote landscapes.

Today we have two overlanders making themselves at home on our campsite, tucked beneath the palms and trees along the Kunene River.

If Epupa Falls is on your overland route, our campsite is a great place to slow down for a night or two, set up camp and enjoy one of Namibia’s most spectacular corners.

BUILDING UPDATE FROM EPUPA!

There’s something exciting about watching a project move from plans on paper to something you can actually see taking shape.

The foundation has been laid, and the first brickwork is officially underway!

Our new community craft market is slowly rising from the ground, one brick at a time. Once complete, it will provide a fresh, dedicated space where local community members can display and sell their handmade crafts to visitors from near and far.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but this is a milestone worth celebrating.

We’ll keep sharing the progress as this space takes shape. Watch this space... the walls are going up!

Have you ever wondered what you might see on a River Walk at Epupa Falls?

Sometimes, it’s the things you aren’t looking for that make the walk memorable.

A crocodile soaking up the last warmth of the sun on a rock in the Kunene River. An old tree standing quietly along the riverbank, surrounded by palms and the soft sounds of water and birdlife.

The River Walk is about slowing down and noticing what’s around you. The tracks in the sand. The rustle in the trees. The changing light on the water. And perhaps a wild neighbour watching the river right alongside you.

No two walks are ever quite the same, and that’s part of the magic of Epupa.

Building more than a craft market...

Something new is taking shape at Epupa Falls.

For many visitors, the small craft stalls near Epupa are part of the experience. They are places where local craftspeople can share their work, their creativity and a little piece of their culture with travellers from around the world.

But some of the existing stalls have become old and weathered, and we felt it was time to invest in something better.

Epupa Falls Lodge & Campsite has started a fully lodge-funded community project to build a brand-new craft market, creating approximately 24 new stalls for local vendors.

The new market will cover an area of roughly 9m x 14m, and once it is complete, the old deteriorating stalls will gradually make way for this new space.

And these three gentlemen? They are the hands currently turning the idea into reality, our digging and building team getting the groundwork underway.

For us, tourism should leave something behind.

Not only photographs on a traveller’s phone or memories of the falls, but opportunities for the people who call Epupa home.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but stall by stall, something special is growing here.

Behind every memorable stay is a team that never stops learning.

This week, our staff took part in practical fire extinguisher training, learning when and how to use them safely in an emergency.

From discussions to hands-on practice with real extinguishers, every team member had the opportunity to build confidence and gain valuable skills.

Safety is something we take seriously, not because we expect emergencies, but because we believe our guests deserve the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are in capable hands.

A big thank you to everyone who participated with such enthusiasm and to the trainer for sharing valuable knowledge.

At Epupa Falls Lodge & Campsite, looking after our guests begins long before check-in. It starts with a team that is prepared, confident, and committed to your safety.

By the time darkness settles over Epupa, the campsite has found its rhythm.

Rooftop tents are unfolded, campfires begin to glow, and stories in a dozen different languages drift through the palm trees. New friendships are made over shared braais, maps are spread out for tomorrow's journey, and the Kunene River provides the soundtrack to another unforgettable African evening.

Tonight, every campsite is occupied.
Every vehicle has travelled a different road. Every guest has a different story.

Yet, for one night, they all call Epupa Falls home.
