This male spotted hyena "Zane" was fitted with a GPS collar in 2016. At that time, he was a member of the Garub Clan near Aus. He left the clan sometime in 2016 and he was captured on camera traps north of Garub in 2016 and 2017 (you can read more about his story in our newsletters).
Ingrid Lohmann send us some camera images from the Khomas Hochland area yesterday and to our great surprise, Zane made an appearance again. The straight line distance between Garub and the camera trap location in the Khomas Hochland is 450 km. What an amazing journey

While the North East of Namibia has received copious amounts of rainfall, most of the southern regions of the country are grappling with the ever persistent drought. The Namib has had very little rain to speak of, while the Gondwana Kalahari and Canyon Parks have received less than half of their average annual rainfall. Etosha Safari Lodge and Camp has received decent rainfall for the second year running, while the Windhoek area have received varying rainfall. Some areas in and around the capital have received good rainfall while other areas had less so.
Meteorologists are predicting good rainfall this week in the Central, North Central and North Western regions of the Country. May our 28th birthday bring more rain to the areas that need it badly.

Quick day trip to Kobo Kobo to deliver rations and we spotted a female leopard having a hartebeest for lunch (antelope was stuck in a fence 😔) and a cheetah near some wildebeest. Amongst other animals. Awesome way to spend a Sunday.
