Setting up a Black Soldier Fly (BSF) unit on your farm is one of the smartest moves you can make as a livestock farmer. 💪🏾

With BSF production, you turn waste into wealth by converting organic materials into high-protein larvae for your animals. This means reduced feed cost, faster growth, and a more sustainable farming system.

Instead of depending fully on expensive feed ingredients, you can produce your own natural protein source right on your farm. It’s cost-effective, eco-friendly, and highly profitable when done right.

Smart farmers are already embracing BSF… the question is, are you ready to join the movement?

Understanding Anxiety in Pigs

Just like humans, pigs can experience anxiety—and it can seriously affect their growth, health, and overall performance on the farm.

An anxious pig may show signs like:
* Restlessness or excessive movement

* Poor feed intake

*Aggression or unusual behavior
* Slow growth rate

Common causes include overcrowding, sudden changes in environment, poor handling, loud noise, and lack of proper nutrition.

As farmers, it’s our responsibility to create a calm and stress-free environment: ✔️ Maintain proper stocking density
✔️ Ensure consistent feeding routines
✔️ Handle animals gently
✔️ Provide clean water and balanced nutrition
A relaxed pig is a productive pig!
Healthy pigs = Better profits.

Routine Deworming in Pigs: The Secret to a Thriving Herd.

Internal parasites are silent killers in pig farming—they reduce growth, weaken immunity, and quietly eat into your profits. That’s why routine deworming isn’t optional, it’s essential.

A well-planned deworming program helps your pigs grow faster, utilize feed better, and stay strong against diseases. Piglets, growers, and adult pigs all need attention, with special focus during weaning and before breeding.

🔹 Good deworming practices:
• Deworm piglets early and repeat as recommended
• Maintain a regular schedule for growers and sows
• Keep pens clean and dry to reduce reinfection
• Always use the right drug and correct dosage
Remember, a clean environment plus consistent deworming equals healthy, productive pigs.
Invest in parasite control today—your pigs (and your pocket) will thank you!

Safe Cassava Feed for Livestock

Whole cassava contains harmful cyanide (sayanide), but proper sun-drying makes it safe for animals.

Spread thinly under the sun
Turn regularly
Dry for 2–3 days until completely dry

This process removes toxins, reduces moisture, and produces a safe, energy-rich feed for livestock.

Process right, feed safe, and boost productivity!

Despite farming on an acre of land, we still divide our farm into well-structured sections at Gius Farm Limited—and here’s why it matters.

Many people think space determines efficiency, but in pig farming, structure and biosecurity matter even more than size.

1. Disease Control & Biosecurity
African Swine Fever (ASF) remains one of the biggest threats in pig farming. By dividing our farm into separate sections with proper fencing, we can easily control and contain any possible outbreak.
If one section is affected, it can be isolated quickly, preventing the disease from spreading to the entire farm.

2. Restricted Staff Movement
Each section is handled by dedicated staff who are not allowed to enter other sections. This strict control helps reduce the risk of cross-contamination and keeps our pigs safer.

3. Better Management & Record Keeping
Working with smaller groups of pigs makes monitoring, feeding, and health management more effective. It also helps us keep accurate records and make informed decisions for better productivity.
At Gius Farm Limited, it’s not just about how much land we have—it’s about how well we manage it. Smart structure leads to safer and more successful farming.
