We've been away. KIRI will be back on September 1st, with new seasonal bento, new intentions, and the reason you came before: to sit quietly and let the garden do what it does best.

A zwaar blond is supposed to be an anchor: full-bodied, creamy, and grounded. The kind of beer that sits heavy and satisfied.

But when Arjan Speelman, the Executive Chef from Ciel Bleu, walked into the brewery with Kasu, Sichuan, and Sancho, that weight transformed into possibility. Kasu, the lees left behind after sake is pressed, has the flavour of fermentation. Sichuan, the Chinese peppercorn known for its warmth on the tongue. And sansho, with a citrus edge closer to yuzu.

Wietse Postma tasted them one by one. They tested, refined, and built the recipe around the idea that heaviness could be delicate. That cream could carry citrus. That sweetness could live alongside something substantial and serious.

This collaboration has had four editions, and this one may be the most ambitious: a beer that refuses to choose between two sides. It’s full and unexpected. Creamy and bright. A zwaar blond that tastes like it was made by people who wanted to surprise you.
