The most meaningful designs often begin with an act of generosity. With Opera Buona, Marcel Wanders joined a collective effort where twenty architects, chefs and twenty writers came together around a single idea: that beauty can care.
Created in support of Opera San Francesco per i Poveri, the project brought creative minds together around human dignity, transforming artistic expression into tangible support for those in needs.
Founded in 1959 originally as a dedicated soup kitchen providing hot meals to those facing difficulties, Opera San Francesco per i Poveri (directed by Fra Marcello Longhi) has expanded into an essential, multi-tiered welfare resource for individuals and families facing severe economic and social hardship in Milan. Beyond the provision of essential material goods, the foundation works to build pathways toward human dignity, baseline trust, and social renewal.
Opera Buona is a reminder that the value of design is not measured only by what it creates, but by the lives it reaches.
